Meet Stephonia Roberts | Metro Authors Group President

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephonia Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephonia, how does your business help the community?
As President of Metro Authors Group the social impact which befits the mindset of our organization are authors supporting authors. Providing an environment where authors share, learn and support one another with valuable in house resources. This helps authors further their goals of writing and marketing. Authors knowing they have a space , resource and support of like minded individuals who can relate and understand the ins and outs of the pen and paper.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an author I have no specific genre. I love writing about what ever interests me. I am most proud and honored being appointed as President for the last 3 years and also winning the Christian Literary Award 2017 for my story about my grandmother Stories from Big Mama’s Porch. This was a challenge for me as an indie author forgoing the normal process of having a publicist. It has helped me to build confidence while striving to become a better writer. The lesson which sticks out most in my mind is understanding your book is not complete until you start marketing it. There is so much to learn after the final page is printed. I would like for authors to know we are not a book club but, a support group of authors working towards the cause of leaving an imprint in the literacy world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many wonderful spots in the DFW area. Bishops Art , Clyde Warren Park, Uptown, and Bachman Lake and Joe Pool Lake . We would go hiking at Tandy Hill Nature Park in Fort Worth, Fort Worth Nature Center, and finally Cedar Hill Nature Park. And all the museums from Fort Worth to Dallas starting with The Lenora Rolla Heritage Center Museum which is hosted by the Tarrant County Black Historical & Genealogical Society . The society itself was cofounded by Mrs Opal Lee the iconic inspiration that turned Juneteenth into a Federal Holiday. We would also visit Amon Carter American Museum of Art and finish with the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit in Dallas.
Our nightlight will take us to the House of Blues in Dallas, making it back westward in Arlington stopping at Texas Live.
My favorite restaurants are Olive Garden, Spiral Diner, Gloria’s, and Kona . Also, we would hit the poetry scene and visit Create Arlington in Arlington . In Forth Worth we would visit Billy Bob, and the Nearsouth Side area to soak up its newly art culture district.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
