We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen and Britney Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen and Britney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our backgrounds in education and mental health have led us to this point. We talked about working together early in our marriage and having a business has always been a goal of ours. We decided that we could accomplish more if we combined our talents instead of working separately.
What should our readers know about your business?
Luv On The Move is a hub that combines our skills and passions to help others. We want to be a resource to our community and advocates for mental wellness. We didn’t see many people who looked like us occupying the positions we are in, and want to be an encouragement for the next generation. Stephen is a youth motivational speaker and the self-published author of Speech Therapy. He struggled as a kid with a speech disability and faced many obstacles dealing with his own insecurities. He now uses his story to inspire our youth, reminding them that their life has a purpose. Stephen’s time in education as a special education teacher and behavior analyst working with children on the autism spectrum, has helped him to be an advocate for today’s generation. Britney is a licensed professional counselor and has worked with individuals that struggle with addiction and their families. Her goal is to create a safe space for others, especially people of color, to work through the issues that are holding them back.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We treat every place we visit as a food tour, and Dallas has some of the best food spots! We would eat barbeque at Hutchins in Frisco, pizza at Pizza Snob in Denton, burgers at Chip’s in Plano and for dessert, Cookie Society. You can find some good live music in Downtown/Deep Ellum then head to a tasty late night eatery such as Big O Pizza located in North Dallas. We love visiting museums, so Dallas Museum of Art is a must. And if the weather is nice we find a walking trail, usually at Arbor Hills.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the love and support of our parents. We work everyday to honor our fathers and follow their examples of kindness and humility. We are also thankful for our mentors that have helped us grow and still encourage us today.
