We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Stephenson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, what do you attribute your success to?
Success is such a strange concept, because we spend most of our lives letting others define it for us. I’ve always been creative and I grew up with an artistic mother. Most children spend time playing with dolls and I was much more interested in textiles and mood boards. A career in design was predestined, but I definitely took the road less traveled. I’d be remiss if I failed to give honorable mention to the runner up of my triumphs which have been my failures. The creative muscles took shape when I discovered who I am and what success means to me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run a boutique interior design firm, and the best part of my job is the clients! I have the amazing privilege of working with people from all over the world that wound up in Dallas. I am currently woking with families from Pakistan, India, and England. Bringing various cultures into a project is a really fun challenge!

Starting your own business is never easy. My parents instilled in me a solid work ethic and when you love what do it doesn’t really feel like work. My faith has always played a role in overcoming challenges. God’s got me!

Rosedale House was named after the house I grew up in, and my vision for this company is client-driven stimulating spaces. Interior Designers can be intimidating. I like to think of myself as approachable and I suspect my clients keep coming back because we have a lot of fun!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in the Lakewood area, so we’d definitely hit up Greenville. My family and I are on a first name basis with every employee at Botolino (Italian Gelato). We usually grab a cone and walk down to the The Merchant for some hostess gifts.

Cafe Izmir never disappoints. And I love Oddfellows or Leila’s for breakfast. We would for sure go by Curiosities and Curious Garden for some oddities. Date night is usually at Lounge Here and cocktails at Cosmos. The Dallas Zoo is my go to for any good weather day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! Dallas Christian Women’s Job Corp. I volunteered there when I fist moved back to Dallas and their vision to help mold strong independent women has continued to inspire me though out my life.
