We had the good fortune of connecting with Stella Ramola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stella, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
After completing Journey and reviewing all the songs, I looked for the song that best described the theme of my debut album. Every song points to a different season in my life, of the different emotions I went through, conflicts I faced, low points I hit. My life’s journey has been a process of learning to live the life God intended for me. As I look back and think about these experiences, I could write pages and pages on where I was. The pain, hurt, confusions, period of waiting and questions that I had. But through every experience God was faithful and he kept reminding His plan for me through every step. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5–6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.” He taught me to trust in Him and acknowledge His presence throughout my journey. That’s what we’ve shown in the album cover, with all the journals and diaries filled with my past experiences and stories. There are still many blank pages and empty journals that I need to fill up. There are still many mistakes and lessons I need to learn from. But I know for sure, that my friend, the creator of the whole universe, will be with me to help me through it all.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am from a city in southern India called Chennai where I was born and raised till I was a teenager. I then moved to the US where I completed my high school, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. My family is well known in India for being Christian evangelists. From the ripe age of 7, I was encouraged by my parents to sing Christian songs for children in public prayer meetings where thousands of people would gather. All though it seemed like I had it all, moving to a new place when I was a teenager wasn’t an easy task as my introverted self missed all the people who were close to me back home. I faced loneliness, anxiety, sadness and the feeling of being lost in life. However, now I believe my faith has helped me overcome each of those circumstances and feelings. That is what I write about in my blogs and sing about in my songs. Every page and line is of my personal experiences and I hope to encourage other young people who go through those same feelings and show them that there is hope in life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorites things about Dallas would be The Legacy in Plano, Velvet Taco’s Fish Taco & Chicken Tikka Taco and their Elote, Trinity Grove and the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge next to it, hole in the wall Tex-Mex places where they serve the best authentic chilaquiles, the art museum, live music at Bishop Arts and Deep Ellum, a stop at Steel City Pops and visiting Highland Park neighborhoods during Christmas to see the lights and decorations.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to recognize my family for supporting me in my music career. Their love and support meant a lot while I was constructing the songs for the album. I would also like to recognize two people whose efforts are what made this album come to life with the flavor and spice that it has. I would like to thank my friend and music producer, Daniel Davidson, for arranging, coordinating, and co-composing with me in the process of making the album. The next person would be Caleb Andrew as he managed all the designing, branding, and curation of the promotional content for the album. Two of them are treasures and I am thankful for their support in this journey.
