Hi Stefanie, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me is to lean on God. Often, we navigate through our professional and personal lives relying solely on our own strength, believing we have all the answers. However, I’ve realized that true wisdom comes from seeking God’s guidance. When I try to do things on my own, I might succeed, but I miss out on deeper lessons and insights. Trusting God to lead and order my steps has become fundamental to my journey. I always advise others to start their day with prayer, seeking divine direction.
Another crucial lesson is the value of building relationships and treating everyone with kindness. My mother instilled in me the importance of being kind to all people because you never know whom you might meet on your way up or down. Taking the time to connect with your team and external partners goes a long way. It shows that you are approachable, not just as an executive, but as a person.
Building relationships means forming genuine partnerships. Get to know your colleagues on a personal level—learn about their interests, whether they have kids, pets, or favorite hobbies. This personal connection fosters a supportive and collaborative environment. Moreover, be intentional in your interactions. Don’t just reach out when you need something. Check in with your colleagues, share experiences, and build rapport. This creates a foundation of trust and mutual respect that enhances both professional and personal growth.

Continuous learning and embracing new opportunities are crucial, as is surrounding yourself with people who are smarter and more experienced.

Above all, I keep God first in my life. He is the captain of my ship, guiding me through every challenge and triumph. Being a servant leader, committed to serving others, especially in the church, has kept me grounded. Leadership, to me, means being an exceptional servant to others.

I want the world to know that I am not perfect, but I am always willing to learn and grow. My goal is for everyone to succeed in whatever they choose to do.

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation
Morning: Pick up your friend from the airport and head to their accommodation for some relaxation after their journey.
Afternoon: A leisurely lunch at Best Thai in Frisco to kick off the week with some delicious cuisine.
Evening: A relaxing evening at your home church for the women’s bible study, where they can experience the vibrant community and inspirational messages and then go and eat at Reggae Jerk Hut.

Day 2: Exploring Frisco
Morning: Start the day with breakfast at First Watch, enjoying their healthy and delicious breakfast options.
Afternoon: Explore Legacy West, experiencing the diverse food options and the lively ambiance.
Evening: Pamper yourselves with a massage, facial, pedicure, and manicure at a top spa in the area., and then go and eat at True Kitchen, which has light meals.

Day 3: Culinary Delights and Culture
Morning: Enjoy breakfast at Barney’s Brunch House, known for its eclectic menu and cozy atmosphere.
Afternoon: Visit the Dallas Museum of Art to explore the fascinating exhibits.
Evening: Dinner at Haywire in Legacy West, followed by dessert at Sprinkles for their famous cupcakes.

Day 4: Dallas Adventures
Morning: Head to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden for a peaceful and scenic stroll.
Afternoon: Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at Pappadeaux off the Dallas Parkway, known for its delicious seafood.
Evening: Dinner at Yardbird in Dallas, and then hang out at Klyde Warren Park, where you can relax and enjoy the evening.

Day 5: Beach and Music

Evening: Attend a play at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters or a concert at the Toyota Music Factory, depending on what’s available.

Morning: Enjoy a delightful brunch at J. Theodore, relishing their upscale dining experience.
Afternoon: Relax and take a leisurely walk or visit a local gallery.
Evening: A restful evening to reflect on the week’s experiences and prepare for the journey home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am truly grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from so many people throughout my journey. First and foremost, I dedicate my shoutout to my incredible parents, Amelia Morton and Ralph Jacobs. My mother was a paragon of hard work and dedication. Despite the challenges, she balanced work, school, and raising a family with grace and resilience. I vividly remember her coming home from work, cooking dinner, and then studying late into the night. She pursued her education relentlessly, earning her RN degree when I was a young girl, and later going back to school to achieve her BSN while still caring for my younger sisters. She taught me the importance of education and the value of kindness, always reminding us that how we treat people on our way up is how we will be remembered on our way down.

My father, Ralph, exemplified hard work and versatility. He worked on cars, drove taxis and shuttles, and ventured into entrepreneurship, all while being incredibly kind-hearted. He was always willing to help a stranger, and together with my mother, they instilled in us the virtues of diligence, kindness, and generosity.

I also owe a great deal to my uncle, who sparked our entrepreneurial spirit at a young age. He had us selling jeans and shirts door-to-door in our building when we were just ten years old, teaching us the value of hard work and initiative.

My children, Crystal, Maliah, and Thea, have been a constant source of inspiration. Each of them has embraced entrepreneurship in their own unique ways, and their support and encouragement have meant the world to me.

Finally, I must acknowledge the many friends who have supported and encouraged my entrepreneurial journey. You all know who you are, and your support has been invaluable. Truly, it takes a village, and I am grateful for mine.
