Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My poetry book “Unmuted” is more than just any ordinary poetry book. It’s very bold, uncut, and raw. I preverbally intended to reach my readers on being authentically and unapologetically me. Growing up as a child although we were, with no acknowledge of “struggle happy” children, there was also a time in life that changed my childhood drastically. I never felt heard, that’s when I came up with the title of my book “Unmuted”. But this book is also about depression, growth, strength, empowerment, sex, love and much more! The year of 2021 was my year of manifestation. I had so many notebooks of poetry, that’s when the idea of writing this book came into fruition. With absolutely no help with the knowledge of writing a book. I was a woman with a dream. Spending several hours and sleepless nights dedicated to my vision. Not only did I want to leave something behind I could be proud of, I also wanted to show my 3 children that you can do anything you set your mind to.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Klyde Warren Park to enjoy the outdoors and live band. I love the food trucks and energy. Joe pool lake for a nice picnic and BBQ.
Deep Ellum for an exciting night out! I love the strip there so many places to eat and bars to choose from. The Freeman I love the music and vibes there. I’m not the clubbing type but if so, The Nines is defiantly the spot!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ralisha Cater for always supporting my creativity and hearing everything I had to write. Listening to my dreams and indecisive thoughts.
