Meet Stahley Sargent | Salon owner & Natural Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stahley Sargent and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stahley, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The only way to become successful is to take a risk! If you think about it, everyday we all are risk takers. Growing up I was the child who always had a different mindset. My unique way of thinking has helped develop the bold and daring business woman I am today.
The first leap into my career was a decision to jump in the deep waters of being an independent hairstylist by renting a salon booth. Although my instructors encouraged us to work in a commission salon as a safety net, I chose the complete opposite. In doing so, I learned the many roles of being a marketing manger, bookkeeper, content creator, therapist, and hair educator. One thing that has impacted me throughout life is: “No risk, No gain”. Every level in life requires a new risk.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Healthy Hair Lounge is a specialty salon. We offer services to a wide range of natural or transitioning clients who desire more than a hairstyle. Our niche is to revive and restore your hair using modern salon equipment, product knowledge, and detailed consultations. As the owner, I am proud of our results. We opened our first brick and mortar during the pandemic, June 15, 2021; then the challenges intensified. In September 2021, I received a life treating diagnosis of breast cancer.
Although this major shift occurred, I was determined to continue operating my business during my journey of healing. This journey included supporting my clients while empowering them with knowledge to be mindful of their health beyond their hair. Watching our ladies leave the salon feeling empowered warms my heart. Knowing they can come in, gain knowledge about their hair, and have a complete plan of action creates trust in our brand and my expertise.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am in Dallas so there is plenty to get into! Let’s start with brunch of course. Snooze A.M. Eatery is one of my top five. The atmosphere is awesome and the drinks are top notch, never a complaint about their food. To list a few, we would enjoy Mudhook for burgers, Spiral for vegan eats, Tejas for drinks and dinner, and Cinnaholics for vegan desserts.
Next up is a little mall shopping at North Park or Galleria mall. Top golf makes the list for their awesome setup! You can enjoy a private golfing suite for you and your friends. We enjoy active activities so axe throwing at Stumpy’s Hatchet House, Bowling at Bowl and Barrel, and The Escape Room is a must.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I would not be where I am without the leadership of Jesus Christ. In addition, I have crossed paths with some amazing people! Antoine Chambers, owner of Twenty Eight Brands, thank you for guiding me through the challenges of marketing and branding. You have helped me understand who I am in the beauty industry and what my brand represents.
Also thank you to Stephanie Wyatt, of SMychele Consulting. You are always there to assist me administratively. I appreciate your attention to detail and your creativity with our content.
To my family, friends, and clients who have supported our business throughout the years: your support doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for believing in us and giving us the opportunity to enhance your beauty.
