Meet Sophie Cox | Owner & Creative Director of Blushington Blooms

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophie Cox and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sophie, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because I’ve always felt most fulfilled when I’m making something with my hands and bringing ideas to life. I earned my degree in education, which gave me structure and people skills, but realized my true passion was in artistic expression. Floral design became the perfect fit and it allows me to combine my love of art with creating meaningful experiences for people on some of the most important days of their lives.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets us apart is that I don’t just design flowers I build relationships. I love getting to know my clients and brides, and I bring a fun, lighthearted, sometimes goofy energy to the process, while still keeping things professional and organized. That balance makes the experience enjoyable, stress-free, and personal, so by the time the wedding arrives, it feels like we’re celebrating with friends and not just working with clients. I’m proud that I took a leap of faith into something I truly love and built it into a business. The most exciting part is seeing a couple’s vision come to life on their wedding day it is such a rewarding moment every time. Along the way, I’ve learned that growth often comes from stepping into discomfort, trusting my instincts, and knowing when to ask for help. More than anything, I want people to know that my brand is about more than flowers it is about creating experiences and memories that last. Every arrangement is designed to reflect the people we’re celebrating, so that the beauty we create feels deeply personal and timeless.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots really show the mix of history, art, and fun that our city has to offer. I love browsing the Montgomery Antique Mall for unique finds, and of course, taking people to the Stockyards for sightseeing and drinks it is such a classic experience. I also enjoy the Kimbell Art Museum for inspiration and when it comes to food, Press Cafe along the Trinity River is one of my go-to spots. And if we’re ending the night, you can’t beat an espresso martini at Del Frisco’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Rusty Barsanti, a very important person who has guided me through this journey. He has been an incredible mentor and source of support even though he doesn’t have a background in florals, he has shared invaluable advice, perspective, and encouragement. What stands out about Rusty is his work ethic and his dedication, not only would he do anything for me, but he’d do anything for this company. His guidance has shaped the business side of what I do and given me confidence to keep pushing forward. He’ll always be a part of this journey and I’m so grateful to have him along.
