Meet Sophia Haddad | Miss Frisco’s Outstanding Teen 2023

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Haddad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sophia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote would have to be “What is practiced in private is praised in public”. For me, this quote means that the hard work you put in behind the scenes will create a result that exceeds your expectations and those of others. I think that with today’s new normal of sharing our highlight reels and accomplishments via social media, it can be a good reminder that behind every achievement there was discipline and consistent training. Understanding that the growth that happens on the journey of achieving a goal is just as important as reaching it has been vital for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Something that many people don’t know is that the job of a Miss America titleholder is just that, a job! We are asked to serve in our communities and advocate for a cause we are passionate about through our Social Impact Initiatives all while earning scholarships to pursue higher education. I have always admired Miss America and what she stood for. However, my journey into the organization was truly a chance opportunity. I happened to see an Instagram post of a previous titleholder from my hometown and learned about the possibility of being a local teen titleholder and the rest is history.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Frisco is Sports City USA so I would recommend checking out the Star in Frisco! For the Holidays they’ll be having their Christmas Extravaganza every Friday and Saturday and I think it’s the perfect event to get you in the Christmas spirit. Frisco Square is having ice skating at their “Skate The Square” this season and there are so many amazing small businesses there. When it comes to desserts Batch Bakery, Cookie Society, and Poparella’s are some of my favorites!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my incredible support system. My family has been there for me throughout every one of my endeavors and I couldn’t be more thankful. My aunts, Ava and Karla, for encouraging me to compete in the Miss America Organization even when I doubted myself, and my parents for always being my biggest cheerleaders and motivators. My mentor who I believe deserves a big shoutout is Mrs. Dawn Elliott. She has the ability truly listen to you and give the best advice for every situation. On my journey to becoming Miss Frisco’s Outstanding Teen 2023, she has always been there to run mock interviews with me and make sure I was my most confident self going into my competition.
