We had the good fortune of connecting with Sopha Rush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sopha, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson that my business has taught me is patience. I’ve been in seasons where I’ve struggled with rushing to the next big thing and trying to force things to work because it worked for someone else. I was trying to operate on my own timeline rather than waiting for God to give me vision, so I could execute. I had to learn how to trust God like never before and take breaks when I needed it. There is no point burning myself out and feeling overwhelmed when I knew for a fact God gave me the resources to rest, delegate, and slow down even in a world that glorifies hustle and moving at a fast pace. If you have been where I’ve been, trust me when I say this, please slow down. Take time to be present in this season and enjoy the fruits of your labor. You don’t want to look up one day and see how much you missed because you were too busy working and grinding your way through life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I started writing my blog back in 2016, I had no idea it would turn out to be more than that. I really just wanted to inspire people with my words and share my testimony. For me, writing was a form of free therapy and a place I could share my thoughts. It was freeing for me. As I continued to write, I didn’t expect for it to birth my brand— Live Deeply Rooted. This ministry has become a safe space for women and a place where we can be vulnerable with one another and mature into the women God has created for us to be. Has it always been easy? No, it has come with many seasons of isolation, heartache, and lessons learned, but I would not have had it any other way. It truly has strengthened my faith and helped me keep my eyes on Him rather than what I could do on my own. Everything I’ve had to go through, has made me into the strong, confident woman that I am today.

Years later, I became a published author and have been writing devotionals for women which makes my heart so happy getting to see others wanting to strive and grow closer to God. To see the fruits of my labor, makes it so worth all the tears, hardships and challenges that have come with remaining obedient and close to Jesus. If there was one thing I would want others to know about my story, it would be keep God first. Don’t compromise who you are for anything. So many things & opportunities may seem nice, but if it doesn’t align with what God has for You, it will eventually fade. Stay focused on what God has for you! I promise it’s so much more sweeter than anything this world has to offer you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was coming in from out of town and staying for a whole week, I would definitely book us a little staycation for a night at the Kimpton Hotel. We would eat our way through Dallas for the day starting with one of my favorite coffee shops—La Reunion, Hola, Davis Street, or Xaman and then head to Bishop Arts District for a little stroll and maybe some shopping. For lunch, we would hit up one of my favorite Thai spots— Ly Market, Bangkok City, or Nahlin Market. The BEST Thai food in the city. After lunch, we may head to a show at the Alamo Drafthouse. Dinner spots—Paradiso, Enos, Oddfellows,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I had to choose a person that helped me throughout my success in all that I do, I would shoutout my amazing husband. I couldn’t do what I do without his constant support and love that he continues to pour out. He inspires me and motivates me to keep going. We’ve known each other for over 12 years, so he’s the person that knows me better than anyone and I’m so grateful to have him always walking alongside me through every single season. Every high and low that comes with success. Also, I can’t forget to thank my community of people that have came alongside me and helped me see my potential and challenge me to step outside my comfort zone daily. My amazing team Kensington Grey who have encouraged me to keep pursuing my dreams and never stop dreaming BIGGER.
