Meet ShirJuanda “Bounce” Woodson | Professional Dancer/ Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with ShirJuanda “Bounce” Woodson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ShirJuanda “Bounce”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to my company and my brand I have learned it all has come from risk taking. I can definitely say I am a risk taker. My whole life is about going the extra mile to make my dreams reality, and knowing that life and time doesn’t wait on anyone, so why wait on it. I laugh when I say it, but I am so serious when I say that I have lived in a new place every year since I graduated High School in 2011, and they all have been risk taking moves. From Dallas, to Oklahoma, New York, California, Nevada, and even eleven months on a ship with Royal Caribbean in Asia (China and Japan)…it’s all been worth it. Thank you to my parents and the exposure they gave me in traveling leisurely and in my career thaws truly opened my eyes to see there’s more to the world than what is right in front of you, you have to be willing o take risk and step out of your boundaries and comfort zone to see it. My company I Am Bounce, LLC was birthed off of risk and Faith in who I am as an artist and individual is worth giving to the world. My company strives to give back to underprivileged communities and giving children and adults the opportunity to see more for themselves and pushing them to follow through with pursuing my dreams, in the same way I have as an Artist. I am a risk taker. I am willing to fail and learn fro m those failures in order to create success. I agree risk taking is worth the battle. It isn’t easy but it is definitely worth it. It isn’t for everyone, but it is for everyone to try. I am who I am because I was willing to take that risk! Do it for you, it will all come around full circle. It always does.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I could say my drive sets me apart from others, but honestly there’s no comparison I just created a lane for my vision to blossom. I am mostly excited to see just whereI continue to grow and where I continue to expand in my creativeness. All credit for the amazing years of training and the opportunity to have that training goes to my parents. Thank you for simply believing in my talent. The journey has not been easy being an entrepreneur and professional dancer, but its all been so worth it. I live by the saying Prayer, Patience, Perseverance. I know that all things I do are meant for me. My favorite lesson is knowing how to stay true to yourself. When you learn to just be true to you it makes the journey that much better. When you see me, you see I Am Bounce. The loving, giving, and family oriented brand. I stand for being true to the world and in return the world being true to me. I send nothing but love and great energy out as an Artist, Mentor, Choreographer, and overall person.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When it comes to getting out I am a lover of live music, going to a bar, a very chill vibe. Deep Ellum is more of my feel when i go out where I have options of not only bars, but restaurants and many different dessert options as you’re walking don your food after a great meal. I really love cooking and always look to find the opportunity to have an experience at a cooking class. I am all about adventure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mentees and my family. Whether near or far I have always had my family to push me along the way in all that I do. Because of them I am able to be the best me for my mentees and all my students I come across. Thank you for loving me and seeing my vision to provide a safe space and safe training to the community. I love y’all so much!
