We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayla Eadler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shayla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew that one day I wanted to have a family, and I wanted to have complete control over my work schedule, so that I could be as present as possible with them. I knew I wanted to be able to drop my kids off at school, pick them up, take off for school parties, and not have to ask permission for that or have to take vacation time. The flexibility, the freedom, that is what drove me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have had to learn the hard way that I cannot do it all. I have learned to not over-book myself. I have learned to say no. I have learned a good work/life balance. It’s okay to take a break. I want everything to be good and perfect and right in the world all the time- and life does not have to be perfect to be beautiful, and you cannot make everyone happy. As long as you know in your heart you are doing your very best, that’s all that matters.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person that deserves all of the credit and recognition is my husband, Matt. I was an excited, driven, passionate Hair Stylist fresh out of Cosmetology school- ready to take on the world! Only to have found myself working at a salon that put me down, held me back, and made me cry almost every day. After just 6 months out of Cosmetology school, I felt that I had made a huge mistake. I wanted to quit. Matt, my fiancé at the time, convinced me to open up my own business in a salon suite. He helped me out financially to make that happen, and gave me the confidence I needed to take that huge leap. I remember the lady’s face when I signed my lease for the suite, she thought I was nuts venturing out on my own with maybe a hand full of clients. I knew she thought I wouldn’t last 2 months. Well, here I am- 10 years later in the same suite, with over 100 clients making nearly six figures.
It was not always easy. It was down right hard. I worked hours upon hours, and poured my blood sweat and tears into building everything that I have, but it has been so worth it.
Just last year during Covid, when the world shut down, I started to think what would I want to do with my life if I could not do hair anymore. I knew I would still want to be my own boss and have that flexibility- and real estate has always sparked my interest. I got a wild hair and brought up signing up for classes, and once again- my Husband told me to go for it! He once again encouraged me, believed in me and gave me the confidence I needed, even during those late nights when I could hardly hold my eyes open and my brain hurt so bad, and I found myself wondering why I was putting myself through the stress of going back to school/starting another career. But I was hooked immediately as soon as I signed up. I studied non-stop. I was determined, I was intrigued, my passion was fueled again. After months of studying, I took the exam, and just like my husband told me I would- I passed. And I have never looked back.
So long story short- My Husband. He has been my biggest supporter and always believes in me and helps me bring my dreams to reality.
