We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Blaze Ealy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawn Blaze, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The time and effort that behind everything that is prepared. Yes customers enjoy the finished product and that is where I get total fulfillment, but the the time and love that goes into every item can be tedious. Making sure everything is made correctly without flaw can be a challenge. For example making my cheese sauce for macaroni and blending it properly so it won’t burn in the time given can be nerve racking because if I burn it I have to trash it and start again. Also the prep work. Cutting the veggies & washing everything that needs to be washed is very time consuming because right now I’m doing the majority by myself but it will all pay off soon

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I always loved to cook, and what sets me apart from other individuals is my process after I had a severe case with Covid. I realize after my struggles with Covid that life is too short and I began my process of cooking out of my home selling plates and a friend of mine purchased and asked if we could collaborate on the opening of his restaurant. So I did, and we made a partnership with each other for me to do pop ups in the restaurant. I gained a following in the process and everything was good. Yes it was a struggle at times because of lack of help but we both worked hard, behind-the-scenes long hours with little help but it all paid off. Now I made a transition to a new state. I had to reestablish myself in the DFW Texas area. I made connections around the DFW, and also joined festivals In which I really gained a following and have fun in the process. I am a man of faith, and this is my purpose to be able to feed the children of God. So one thing I plan on incorporating in my business is to be able to provide a food pantry where less fortunate individuals can receive a nice meal, and no cost.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s really hard for me to say right now because I’m new to the area so I know of course we have the sports teams so I would take them to either football Dallas Mavericks basketball game or soccer game. Whatever is going on. I will try to take them. I will take them to a nice barbecue establishment in the process as well. I will take them to see the downtown area of Dallas and maybe the stockyards in Fort Worth and spend good quality time with each other. Talk and laugh and joking things that have nature and explore as I’m new to the area as well and find good opportunities and good places to eat as well .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I would like to think God for giving me the passion to be able to prepare delicious meals for his people. Second, I would like to take my wife for supporting me with my passion and my goals and being in my corner caring for our household. Third, I would like to think chef Jerek Blevins for giving me an opportunity to work with him and stretch me in areas of culinary. He provided an outlet in his restaurant for me to be able to start my process and regain my passion through depression.
