Meet Sharonda Lawson | Owner of Bakers D’lite Inc.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharonda Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharonda, what do you attribute your success to?
THE most important factor behind my success is my amazing support group and my drive to be successful. I created my brand to break chains and to open opportunities for my family. In my family I am the 1st successful entrepreneur/business owner, so I feel it is my duty to pave the way and to be a trailblazer. I also want my children to see not only the success but the hard work, drive and dedication that comes with it and I want that to motivate them to be the best version of themselves that they can be and to never let anyone or anything steer them away from their path,

What should our readers know about your business?
I birthed Bakers D’lite Inc . 9 years ago. At Bakers D’lite I specialize in custom cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and small treats. I have also started a product line and the first of the line are these wonderful stainless steel 3-in-one cake spatulas. They come in 4 different colors { Rose Gold, Aqua, Magenta and Mermaid} and are AMAZING and the more exciting part is for every cake order you get a FREE spatula, but they are also available for sale on the website. I am so excited about the product line because soon more custom items will be added, and these are items curated with the CUSTOMER in mind and not other bakers. Most times when a baker starts a product line, they sell items for other bakers, well we wanted to focus on you, the customer!

I got to where I am in business because I have always had a drive and determination to be successful. Being a business owner is not easy and not for the faint at heart or the unmotivated, but it is very rewarding to set goals and reach them! When challenges arise (because it is inevitable) you have to sometimes relax, release and reset your mind to find a way to rebound from the challenge that you are facing. The single one important thing is to not let the challenge discourage you or cause you to give up! Keep going!! There are lessons to be learned in every challenge and some of the lessons that I have learned is that you absolutely have to find your niche and stick to it. What works for Joe Blow Bakery down the street won’t work for Bakers D’lite. You can not take every piece of advice from others just because they are in the business, you have to know how to weed through what you can apply to your business and throw out the rest.

At the end of the day, I want the world to know that Bakers D’lite cares about, loves and appreciates all of its clients and support. My ultimate goal is to create a brand that is unlike any other. Great things are on the horizon and I want my clients to experience them with me!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok so there are some wonderful spots all over DFW, but let me highlight a few that I enjoy! Vidorra is a wonderful Mexican restaurant that has a great ambiance and two locations (Dallas and Addison). DJ’s is a sophisticated black owned restaurant that has great food and music. Pangea is another BOB that has a really nice vibe and a place you go if you want to get dressy. These are just a few but there are so many more places in DFW that are amazing. As far as just hanging out and relaxing, you have to go to the AT&T Discovery District in Downtown Dallas!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to not only my wonderful family that supports me, but all of my amazing clients that consistently show their support. They keep me going with all of their amazing reviews, recognition and referrals. I would also be remiss to not dedicate a huge portion of my success to my late father! No matter where I was at in life, he always expressed how proud of me he was and he bragged on me to anyone that had an ear to listen. I would like to think that he is watching over my life and would be as proud today and he was 15 years ago, I keep going with that in mind!
