We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanique Hudson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanique, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I ever had to make was deciding to leave my six figure job to start my own business. I remember the moment so vividly because I knew I wasn’t happy anymore, I was about to turn 30 the following month and I had reached the highest level I could achieve at my current employer on the sales side. My options were to stay where I was or switch to the corporate side and make less than half of what I was making. In all honesty, I loved the company so much I was willing to take the salary cut to stay comfortable. That Monday the very position I was going to take, they announced they are getting rid of it all together. So now that left me with the option of taking even lower money or leaving. One of my best friends and I sat down and really felt like it was now or never to figure out what the next chapter was going to look like. That Wednesday we booked a trip to Jamaica for the weekend. We left on Friday and came back on Monday with an executed plan. I put my house on the market that following Friday, it was sold by Sunday. I applied that day to real estate school! Once my house closed, I drove to Texas to finish my classes to become a realtor.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One thing that sets me apart from other is I am willing to help anyone. I only ask one thing from all of my clients and that is commitment. I don’t care if you have $0 in the bank and a 430 credit score. I am determined to find you a home, but I can’t be more motivated than you are. The reality is, that life happens and it is going to keep happening so why not let us brainstorm together to come up with a plan for you to be in a better place. The first thing everyone says is “Oh, I am working on my credit” but how do you know what to work on if you’ve never spoken to a professional? You can be working on it for years and it goes nowhere, but insert me into the picture and now you scores are where they need to be in less than 6 months. I know without I doubt I am where I am today because of God. It sounds cliché, but it is true. I moved to a city where I didn’t have a SOI, no social media, and I definitely wasn’t going to go door knocking in this day and age. I went a whole year before selling my first house. There was a lot of prayers, tears, and self doubt that year. I continued to do the exact things that my broker taught me and I have to tell you I am much happier. What do I want the world to know about me? I love a challenge! I will bet on myself every time because my determination isn’t going to let me quit. How that translates to my clients is I don’t care what the “market” says, if God gave you the ability to be qualified to buy right now, we are getting you a house. I don’t let the multiple offers discourage them. What God has for you can’t be taken away by anyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Lucky for you planning is my specialty! If you visit me I always say you have to stay until Monday. Friday we are going to have dinner at Haywire, followed by wine at The Colony Wine Bar, then we are going to Cigars International iykyk. Saturday we are having brunch at Whiskey Britches for some really good chicken and waffles, then we are going to the spa at The Ritz. For dinner we are going to Del Frisco’s and then we are going to Vinnetti’s. Sunday we are going to church at Embassy City, then we are going to Harlowe especially if the weather is nice, followed by The Freeman for some live music and really good food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow! So many people were influential into who I am today. First and foremost God. He has ordered my steps every step of the way. I thank Him for even putting the thought in my head in high school about being in real estate. Next, my daddy. I absolutely love my father! He is so driven and ambitious and has inspired me to follow my dreams and taught me no matter what obstacles come my way I am capable of doing anything I set my mind to. I love you daddy. I also want to give a shoutout to Erica and Jaz from my Charlotte crew. They gave me the boldness to be the woman I want to be unapologetically. I would also want to thank Bravo. He was the first trainer I met when I moved here and after each session he would cover me in prayer. He didn’t know it at the time but those prayers were really getting me through my transition from the corporate world to self employment. I would also want to thank Vanessa, Jessica, Felicia, Courtney, Kortney, Brittany, Quitta, Alisha, KK, Beth, Julia, and Sterling for promoting me at every opportunity and just being amazing friends. I love my girls! Devon my therapist, let me tell you guys something. She is a rockstar! I am so glad I found you because you have given me permission to grow and allowed me to really face reality in a life changing way. Rashad the fitness extraordinaire! He doesn’t let me make excuses and reminds me that this is a journey, not a microwavable transformation lol. I appreciate every single one of you and have no idea the impact y’all have made on my life. I love you!
