We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamieka of Frxsh Moments Photography and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamieka, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I would always look at my surroundings or people going about being them in their own style and think that would make a dope photography piece. I would go to New Orleans and lot and would just take photos my entire trip. From there I just know I wanted to pursue photography.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart may also sound similar to other creatives. I love mixing themes during some shoots. For example a modern twist on a retro look. That is what also makes me excited especially during the editing process. Mixing a black and white photo with one of color to create a new look.

I got here by being dedicated and learning all I can about the craft and tweaking it to my and my clients liking. Was it easy? NO! It took me a year to feel comfortable with how to do things without second guessing and constant work even now to not stay stagnant and coming up with Frxsh (Fresh) content.

I would want the world to know that I am taking a new look into photography to make capturing moments something that doesn’t feel forced or just another task they need to do but something fun and gratifying.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My friends enjoy eating lol so I would definitely take them to Harper’s Dallas, Kitchen + Kocktails, Monarch, and The Exchange Hall. If they were wanting to go out and do Sunday Funday in Dallas even though I don’t go out much I would take them to Stirr, Wok Hard, Harlowe, Dec on Dragon or Common Table. And of course we would probably end up at at Northpark and the Galleria.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family! When I started doing photography in 2016 they were always there, being my models, allowing me to have a camera in their faces during events and getting the word out to people that would mention needing pictures taken for any life event.
