We had the good fortune of connecting with Shalakemia Moffitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shalakemia, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by the purpose God blessed me with, the beginning of my journey was very challenging surviving a suicide attempt, dropping out of high school, and being diagnosed with a brain tumor. I viewed those challenges as bad at one point in time and then realized I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
They prepared me for a time like this, to empower, motivate and inspire others through my story.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a business coach that just launched my very own Business University ( Grindin Royal University) and I’m a world-renowned motivational speaker. What sets me apart in both is my drive and compassion to see others succeed in life and business. I got to where I’m at in business by being true to my purpose and dedicated to what I love to do and that’s showing people how to build successful brands and businesses. I will say my journey wasn’t easy and there were times I wanted to give up but then I realized my kids are watching me and so many other people as well. With prayer, I was able to stay strong and push through every obstacle in my path. The key to me pushing through was understanding that I was built for a time such as this. The most valuable lesson along the way was understanding that I will make mistakes but also understanding to learn from them too. I want the world to know that Shalakemia cares about the success of others because that’s something I wished I had growing up. My goal is to pour so much of my gift out that people have no choice but to be the best versions of themselves in a successful way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to the local botanical garden to enjoy the peaceful environment, followed by lunch at the best seafood place in town. We would do some shopping at the mall. We would end our night by the firepit just enjoying some laughs together. The next day we would have breakfast at a fabulous nearby waffle house and visit a museum and learn a little about our culture. I would then take her to a concert in the park to hear the beautiful voice of KeKe Wyatt.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to God, my amazing soulmate, my children, and my awesome friend Natasha.
