We had the good fortune of connecting with Sesley Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sesley, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Detroit, Mi! Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my auntie, my mothers only sister, who is still a hairstylist to this day. She had a salon in her basement and hired me to be her assistant when I was 15. Doing hair, making my clients happy and having a genuine relationship with my clients is my thing! 17 years later its still my thing!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hair and beauty is my art. My style and grace sets me apart. The beauty industry is growing and changing daily and the sky is the limit to my creativity behind the styling chair. Trusting myself and having amazing mentors in my corner is the reason why I am where I am today! It hasn’t been easy but it was absolutely worth it. Ive learned to stay in my lane and focus on my goals.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Legacy West! I could hang out there al day, Happy hour and a little shopping is always fun. I’m also a spa type of gal, the Joule spa is my favorite. I really enjoy ‘The Joule” body treatment. And when I’m not relaxing, I’m spending time with my 2 children. We hang out at Grandscapes a lot, Andretti for go carts, my daughter love the Ferris wheel.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Donna Kelser, Owner of Kream the Salon in Southfield, Mi. Shout out to tough love and Old school rules. I greatly appreciate her guidance and support.
