Meet Selûna | Indie rock band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Selûna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Selûna, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
We’re just a band trying to get our music heard, and one thing most people are unaware of is just how involved that process is these days. Before the social media age, bands were mostly worried about making good music and playing shows. Now, we have to handle nearly every aspect of our career ourselves, from recording and production to content creation, marketing, branding, and fan engagement.
Most don’t realize how much time and energy goes into simply being seen or heard. It’s not just about making good music anymore, we also have to stay constantly visible in a saturated social media landscape. So much of our time goes into planning release strategies, creating content, and booking shows, all while still writing, practicing, and performing.
Having complete control over the entire process is an awesome and freeing thing, but it can also be exhausting at times. Still, there’s something incredibly fulfilling about building something from the ground up, and when people connect with it, even in small ways, it makes it totally worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets Selûna apart from other bands is our connection as friends rather than just musicians. We’ve been playing together as a band for around five years now, and we’ve gone from high school classmates to college musicians in a new city, all together. We were friends before we started playing music together, and I think that translates well to the way we make music and collaborate. There have been periods of downtime, sure, but we all kept coming back to the music because it’s something we genuinely care about. We are excited to be releasing our debut EP this summer, and this record definitely showcases the trust, chemistry, and shared vision we’ve built over the years. Along the way, we’ve learned that creating art is easy when you have three other people who share the same passion and want to make the same impact that you do. We want the world to know our music deserves a listen because it reflects our genuine connection and commitment to what we create.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re from Arlington, so the first stop on our trip would of course be Mavericks Bar and Grill on main street in downtown. We’ve played a couple shows there, and it’s a great vibe. Next day, we’d hit up the Taqueria Taxco on Cooper St and end the day by hitting a couple strokes on the Shady Valley Golf Course. Our lead singer’s backyard is actually right on the green of the course, and we could set off a few fireworks in the middle of the night if we were feeling rebellious. Later in the week, we might go to the Stockyards and Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth for a good ol’ cowboy time, and then we could go to Medieval Times or Bishops Art District in Dallas if we wanted to explore the other side of the metroplex.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to dedicate our shoutout to our fellow band, Shwing! Shwing sort of took us under their wing and helped up book a lot of shows when we moved to a new city. They’ve also been super inspiring to us as musicians. Their music is great, go check them out on Spotify under “Shwing!” if you haven’t yet.
