We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Honarbakht & Taylor Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah & Taylor, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Libra Rising Collectives is a collaborative business that intersects two different but congenial creative pathways; art and antiquities. We (Savannah & Taylor) came up with the idea of our business from seeing how well we worked together as a team. We each own our own separate small businesses and started attending local pop-up markets in Denton together but under separate names. We quickly recognized that Taylor’s form of art and Savannah’s curated vintage and antique items meshed well with one another. Followed by our alike approach to business and inevitable chemistry with one another; Libra Rising Collectives was born! We are first and foremost, best friends that share a bond that is harmonious and unique; which in return shines bright within our business together. The name of our business holds a special place for the both of us. When we were creating our brand, Taylor had mentioned how she always wanted to utilize her astrological rising sign (Libra) in a business name. It was only serendipitous that Savannah also shares the same rising sign with Taylor, thus making Libra Rising a dynamic duo from it’s conception. We are able to bounce ideas back and fourth with one another effortlessly. So much so, that we already have our shop’s drops and inventory planned for the entirety of 2022!
We strive to show the intention, magick, and love of our union placed into everything we offer for our shop. We are dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive space for all the mischiefs and weirdos. Everything is carefully sourced, created, and conjured in Denton, TX for the grim hearted!

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart from other businesses is the unique and carefully intended art and antiquities that we provide for all to enjoy. Like mentioned before, we are a collaborative business that intersect two different creative pathways! You get the best of both worlds when shopping with Libra Rising Collectives. We are where we are today because of our robust work ethic and drive to put forth quality art and vintage finery. When it comes to the art aspect of our business, Taylor does not miss a single detail. She is constantly coming up with new ideas and spends an ample amount of time perfecting each piece she creates. When looking at the vintage and antique side of our business, Savannah carefully and intentionally curates a unique collection of housewares, fashion, oddities, and various other commodities. Savannah strives to keep the original integrity of each vintage piece sourced and will work hard to restore each piece if need be.
We think it is fair to say that every business will be shown various challenges and obstacles to overcome. We are very fortunate to have one another to lean on when faced with such adversities. It is not always easy but we can make our way through them by working with one another to find the best solution. We’ve learned to stay true to who we are as individuals and as a brand. Libra Rising Collectives emulates our friendship and our love for art, history, magick, and more!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We may be a bit bias since we are both based out of Denton – but we love this city and all it has to offer! We would definitely recommend checking out the Every Witch Way markets that pop-up in from of Mellow Mushroom and JK’s Cocktail Lounge on specific Saturday’s each month. We honestly can’t recommend JK’s Cocktail lounge enough for their distinctive hand crafted cocktails! Obviously have to walk around the Denton Square and take in it’s historic beauty plus check out all the stores and restaurants nearby!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We are beyond grateful for the Every Witch Way market here in Denton and for it’s founder, Elizabeth (Woolen Witch Crafts), as well as it’s coordinators Natalie (A Tarot Storyteller) and Cassie (Kismet Soul). The Every Witch way community provides a safe and inclusive space for all to gather and rejoice with one another. You can see the magick throughout this entire community and how unique each spiritual pathway can be. You can see how much Elizabeth, Natalie, and Cassie care about the vendors and community that participate in these markets through the amount of time and energy they put into planning each market and through promoting the businesses that partake in them! We are so thankful to have this coven! We are also grateful for all of our friends and family that show so much love and support for us. We can honestly say that we would not be where we are without all of them!
