Meet Sathvika | Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sathvika and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sathvika, why did you pursue a creative career?
For as long as I can remember, music has been my life. Even as a three year old, my first response to the question “What do you want to be when you grow up” was always “singer”! Growing up, I was raised in a diverse household in terms of music, on one hand my mom would be playing classical South Indian and Bollywood music and on the other hand, my dad would play artists like Guns and Roses and Pink Floyd. In fact, I was probably the only kindergartener with a slight obsession with Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall”, which was probably not the best song to be singing! As I grew older, my passion for music only grew with me, as I soon picked up the guitar and piano which only spurred my love for songwriting. Over the past few few years, I have travelled to both Nashville and Los Angeles to write and release songs of my own, including my original song, “Satisfied”. I truly believe one of the most rewarding and special parts of music is the ability to connect with so many people. “Satisfied” was inspired by my own struggle with my insecurities, a universal struggle we may all face at one point or another. I strive to write music that can serve to let listeners know that in whatever adversities they may face, they are never alone. Music has the power to: Heal. Empower. Unify. It is extremely important to me to write lyrics that are honest, and true to myself. Currently, I am working on writing and producing some new songs that are in the works right now! My greatest hope for my music is to be honest, truthful and a voice for everyone who feels like they are alone in whatever they may be going through.Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an acoustic pop, singer-songwriter! I truly believe one my favorite parts about music is the ability to connect with people of all backgrounds through something as simple as the lyrics and melody. My greatest goal with the music I write is to provide a voice for anyone and everyone. Music has such an innate ability to make people feel the most personal of emotions, and I hope to connect with those listening through the lyrics and music I write -a primary reason why I wrote “Satisfied”. With every career path comes a set of adversities and challenges. Through the past couple years, and the experiences and knowledge I have gained, I have learnt the importance of persistence and resilience. It can often be difficult to see the good in every struggle we encounter, however one thing I truly believe and hold close to my heart is that everything happens for a reason. I am extremely excited about the next few months as I am planning on recording and producing some new songs! I hope these songs resonate with you, and you enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed making them!Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite lunch spots is “Taco Deli”! I am absolutely obsessed with their tacos and especially love that they are so accommodating to all dietary needs- Vegan, vegetarian, you name it! I definitely think a trip to Downtown Dallas is a must see for anyone visiting! The Dallas skyline is so beautiful and Reunion Tower is the perfect place to see it from! I would especially recommend seeing it at sunset! A trip to Dallas is not complete without shopping!! Definitely visit Galleria and North Park mall if you are looking to get your “shop” on!The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. I would like to thank my parents for all of their support. I truly could not follow my passion without their support behind me! I would also like to thank all of teachers and mentors for all of their advise and help as I navigate my future! In addition, I would also like to thank every single person who has listened to my music! I truly hope my music can empower and inspire those around me!
