We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Sanguino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My goal is to open up my own studio. I have a clear vision of what my studio will look like. I want to have a space where I can create whatever I want, whenever I want. I also want to open up the space to other creators so they can have a reliable place to shoot content. I want photography to be a part of my life forever, whether that’s shooting with clients are running my studio.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I capture important moments for people. Something I hear prospective clients tell me is that my work is “natural” and “effortless.” That’s what draws them to my work. I love that because I pride myself in creating a safe space for my clients and models to express themselves! My biggest struggle was finding my style and being happy with my own work. I’m guilty of comparing myself to others and feeling envious. I’ve thought to myself “why doesn’t my photography look like theirs?” I’ve learned to let go of the doubts and keep pushing. I’ve grown so much in the few years that I’ve been doing this and I still have so much to learn!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I lived in Denton for 7 years and I think it’s one of the most underrated towns in DFW. It has everything you need to have a fun-filled day. I’d start with breakfast or brunch at Seven Mile Cafe or coffee at Jupiter House. A great lunch spot is Boca 31. They have delicious Cuban-inspired dishes. For dinner, definitely Hannah’s or Thai Square. And dessert, of course Beth Marie’s! For fun activities, I’d check out the Chairy Orchard. It’s a random lot in a neighborhood full of unique and quirky chairs. Great spot for photos!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this to my mom. She passed away in 2019 and it changed every aspect of my life. She was always so supportive of my work and goals. I take comfort in knowing she was proud of me. I strive to be successful in my career and I continue to work hard in her honor.
