We had the good fortune of connecting with Salima Subramanian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Salima, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success has been the evolution of Serenity Studio and staying true to my vision as it became clearer over time. I started almost a decade ago under a different name, but quickly realized I wanted more than just a salon—I wanted to create an experience rooted in wellness and authenticity. About three years ago, when I introduced scalp treatments and my head spa services, the brand began to take shape, and last year I added facials to expand our holistic approach. Finalizing the branding and launching my own private label line this past year felt like the culmination of that journey. Still, the real success comes from my clients—their trust, loyalty, and support have made Serenity Studio not just a salon, but a community built on care, growth, and connection.

What should our readers know about your business?
Serenity Studio is more than just a salon—it’s a space for holistic scalp and skin wellness. What sets us apart is the focus on creating a clean, nurturing environment where clients can not only look their best but feel their best, too. We offer a range of services from head spas and scalp treatments to facials and private-label wellness products, all designed to promote overall well-being.

Starting my business wasn’t easy. I began nearly a decade ago with a different vision and name, and it took years of learning, experimenting, and evolving to shape Serenity Studio into what it is today. About three years ago, introducing holistic scalp treatments and my head spa helped clarify the brand, and last year adding facials and launching my own product line truly brought everything together.

I’m most proud of the community we’ve built. Our clients aren’t just customers—they’re part of the Serenity Studio family, supporting the growth of a brand rooted in care, authenticity, and wellness. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s about persistence, listening to your clients, and staying true to your vision. My hope is that people walk away knowing Serenity Studio is a place where they can feel renewed, cared for, and inspired to embrace their own well-being.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting Frisco for a week, I’d make sure they got the full mix of food, fun, and relaxation! We’d start the mornings with coffee at Coffee U to fuel up or breakfast at Poached brunch house, then spend some time exploring Frisco Square, Shops of legacy,Legacy West, Allen outlets and the weekend farmers’ market. For lunch, I’d take them to Tommy Bahamas or enjoy flavorful Indian cuisine at flavors lounge.

Afternoons would be perfect for a mix of activity and downtime. We’d visit Nerdvana or Grandscape for shopping and entertainment, or enjoy the outdoors at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve or the Dallas Zoo.

Evenings would be all about food and drinks: salsa TexMex for Mexican enchiladas, Italian pasta at Taverna or North Italia in legacy west or more Indian dishes if we’re craving spice. We’d finish the night with cocktails at Rotate bar or a sweet treat at Mango-Mango. And of course, no trip would be complete without a little self-care, so I’d take them to Serenity Studio for a scalp treatment or facial to really unwind and recharge.

Frisco is full of vibrant energy, local gems, and fun experiences, and my itinerary would make sure they see the best mix of it all while creating some amazing memories.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest shoutout goes to my clients and my family—especially my husband and kids. My clients have supported me through every phase of Serenity Studio, from shaping my vision to growing into a holistic scalp and skin care brand. Their trust, loyalty, and encouragement have been invaluable. At home, my husband and kids have been my biggest cheerleaders, offering love, patience, and support as I’ve built my business. Without both my clients and my family, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
