We had the good fortune of connecting with Sahaj Satani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SAHAJ, what inspires you?
I was inspired to start MEDILOQUY because of my journey into the field of medicine. Volunteering at my local hospital and shadowing physicians, including hospitalists, geriatricians, oncologists, and radiologists, sparked my interest in medicine. I wanted to learn more and was fortunate to gain research experience as well.

However, getting these opportunities was not easy. I had to send many cold emails and do a lot of research to secure them. During my mission trips to Mexico City and other locations, I saw that many students like me were interested in medicine but didn’t have the same opportunities to explore it.

This experience motivated me to create MEDILOQUY. I wanted to provide virtual internships to help students around the world explore their passion for medicine. I realized that by making these opportunities more accessible, we could support many students in pursuing their dreams in healthcare.

Since its inception, MEDILOQUY has made a significant impact, helping over 3,000 students globally by providing free access to virtual internships, facilitating research opportunities, and connecting students with volunteering and shadowing experiences at hospitals, all while helping raise over $24,000 for mission trips and collaborating with prestigious organizations like Texas Health Resources.

I also volunteer alongside the interns I’ve helped match to hospitals, supporting them as they gain real-world experience in healthcare.

What should our readers know about your business?
MEDILOQUY stands out because we provide free resources for high school students to explore their passion for medicine. Many programs are either very selective or expensive, and it’s challenging for young students to secure research, internships, shadowing, or volunteering opportunities. We change that by offering these experiences at no cost. We help students reach out to professors for research, partner with organizations for volunteering, and more.

Getting to where we are today wasn’t easy. I was involved in various global communities, such as the American College of Cardiology, of students interested in medicine and used those connections to spread the word about MEDILOQUY. By leveraging the growing number of young students who are passionate about pursuing a career in medicine and are actively seeking resources, we significantly expanded our student base by building a significant online presence. We’re proud to support so many individuals in exploring their medical interests and providing them with valuable opportunities to advance their careers. We’re proud to support so many young individuals in pursuing their medical interests.

One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of perseverance and creativity in overcoming challenges. Building a platform like MEDILOQUY required a lot of effort, from networking and contacting potential partners to navigating logistical hurdles. However, each challenge taught me valuable lessons in resilience and adaptability—which are, of course, important in the medical field.

MEDILOQUY is committed to making a difference. We are passionate about providing equitable opportunities for students to explore medicine, regardless of their background or financial situation. Our story is about turning personal challenges into a mission to help others, and we’re excited to continue expanding our impact and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.

At MEDILOQUY, we believe that every student with a passion for medicine deserves a chance to explore their dreams, no matter their background or resources. Our mission is to make those opportunities accessible and to turn every challenge into a stepping stone toward a brighter future in healthcare.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a week, I’d plan a trip that blends culture, science, and networking. We’d start with a visit to the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, followed by stops at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center. For a taste of local cuisine, we’d grab some barbecue at Pecan Lodge. The next day, we’d dive into science and medicine with tours of Parkland Hospital, known for its trauma care, and UT Southwestern Medical Center, a leader in medical research. A highlight would be the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, specifically Level 2, where the Human Hall was located, a place where I volunteered and received the Gold Presidential Award for service. Networking would be on the agenda with a visit to the Southlake Chamber of Commerce’s Friday meeting at the Southlake Westin, perfect for making connections. Afterward, we’d explore Legacy West and Highland Park Village, unwinding at Grandscape with its food trucks and live music. A day trip from Grapevine Main Street, taking the historic train, to Fort Worth would include the historic Stockyards and the Kimbell Art Museum, followed by a return to Dallas to experience the vibrant Deep Ellum district. We’d wrap up the trip with a visit to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and a final dinner at Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse, ensuring a memorable and well-rounded week in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to someone who is no longer with us but whose influence has profoundly shaped my journey with MEDILOQUY: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. You might know him as the leader who championed non-violence and led India to independence, but he was also a strong advocate for education and helping others. His words, such as “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” and “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” have been guiding principles for me. These quotes inspired me to start MEDILOQUY and have continually motivated me throughout the process. Whenever the demands of managing and meeting with our interns and students, as well as attending fundraisers, sponsorships, and corporate meetings, seemed overwhelming, I would turn to Gandhi’s wisdom. His teachings reminded me that through dedication and service, I can truly make the difference I wish to see in the world.
