We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabino Sotelo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabino, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Service. Several cigar rollers now serve the DFW area. We have been serving the DFW area for over 20 years now and the word of mouth by our customers keep us going. We provide a quality product at a fair price, but our service is what keeps our customers calling back. “My friend just loves how you entertained their guests” is what we hear most. “Your cigar knowledge and interaction with guests” is second on the list.

What should our readers know about your business?
Cigar Butler has been serving the DFW area for over 20 years. Our first store was on Lower Greenville and we were one of the first stores to have an inhouse cigar roller. Little de we know that providing a service such as cigar rolling demonstrations to other would create a business of its own. After owning 2 cigar store we decided to sell them and the art of cigar rolling began. Cigar Butler provides cigar rolling demonstrations at weddings, golf tournaments, corporate and private events. We never dreamed about doing weddings until a young lady call to inquire if we did weddings. She wanted cigars at her wedding as a gift to her father. We were featured in D magazine that year. Her father – Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson. We have been honored to have rolled cigars for some other famous people. You know who you are… We have been rolling cigars at several high profile events – Super Bowl, Byron Nelson, Colonial etc. Due to COVID we currently are delivering cigars to customers and occasionally performing popups at local breweries and distilleries. Our Mobile Cigar Lounge is also currently on hold. Our MCL is the only 50 foot mobile cigar lounge equipped with a kitchen and bathroom in the DFW area. Our newest cigar is a cigar in the shape of a 50 caliber bullet – created for our men and women in the military. Never stop creating new products and be ready to change your business model when new challenges arise.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For my smoking friends I would hand them one of our Cuban blend cigar made with Nicaraguan tobaccos. Cubans are illegal in the USA so we made our own copy of those blends. Then we would have lunch at Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse and then have a drink and smoke on their patio. We would visit some of my favorite local breweries – Odd Muse, Celestial or Texas Ale Project. Have one of my favorite popup meals with Roodie’s Shack. Cuban sandwich by Roodie’s Shack at his popups is awesome. Smoke a cigar on their patio. FUN FACT – Odd Muse has a VIP smoking lounge and you must ask the owners for permission for access. I always enjoy a nice dinner at Al Bienat’s or Jaspers. We would visit there for dinner. Five Points distillery in Forney has a nice atmosphere – definitely worth the drive.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Master cigar roller and blender William at William’s Cigars in Dallas has been a good friend and fellow cigar roller whom I often discuss new cigar blends and cigars. William is from Cuba and we discuss how to bring the Cuban cigar flavors and sizes into our new cigars.
