We had the good fortune of connecting with Roxie Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roxie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I opened DFW Lash University to create a more flexible and supportive path for people to achieve their goals — especially those who’ve felt like traditional schooling just doesn’t fit their lives. As a mom, entrepreneur, and beauty professional, I understood firsthand how hard it can be to juggle family, work, and personal dreams. That’s why I was determined to design a program that removes those barriers.

We’ve pioneered a flexible learning model that allows students to complete their lash education on their schedule. Our hybrid program blends online learning with required hands-on training — without forcing students to rearrange their entire lives. They don’t have to put off their dreams, quit their job, or find childcare just to go to school. Instead, we work around them to make sure they get the hours and experience needed to earn their Texas Lash License.

At DLU, we’re not just passionate about accessibility — we’re committed to raising the standard. We want to empower future lash artists to become licensed professionals who are skilled, confident, and compliant. It’s about creating opportunities, but also ensuring safety, credibility, and long-term success in this industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At DFW Lash University, our journey began with a simple but powerful realization: I knew then that education was the key to creating real opportunities for myself and others, especially those from underserved communities. That’s when I made it my mission to build something better.

Today, DFW Lash University stands as Dallas Metroplex’s premier destination for lash licensing and education. We offer accelerated programs—6 or 12 weeks—to help students earn their Texas Lash Specialty License. But what truly sets us apart is who we serve and how deeply we care. Our school is a safe space for women of color, single moms, and students who may not have a high school diploma, GED, social security number, or state ID. We believe everyone deserves access to quality education and the chance to build a sustainable, professional career.
It wasn’t easy getting here. We’ve had to challenge outdated mindsets, raise awareness around public safety laws, and advocate for proper licensing in an industry where many still operate uncertified or unaware. But every challenge was worth it—because we’ve now helped hundreds of students become licensed lash artists in Texas. Our students consistently achieve high passing scores with TDLR, and that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

I want the world to know that DLU isn’t just a school—it’s a movement. We’re here to raise the standard, create equity in the beauty industry, and empower the next generation of beauty professionals to thrive legally, confidently, and successfully.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Bodybar Pilates, Northpark Mall, Bishop Arts District, Lifetime Frisco, and Hudson House.
