We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosondra Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosondra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process in starting my own business was the push I was getting from my close friends and sisters. I have always been supportive in assisting everyone who thought about or have a business, whether it was fashion line, a hair line, cleaning business, etc. I would listen, brainstorm and promote their business as if it were my own. One day, I woke up and decided to research and do the same for myself. I took what I loved and knew most about and pushed it. I wear glasses and hats almost everyday and receive so many compliments on them so I found vendors that sold items I knew I would like. Did a soft launch and sold out in one day. So, I ordered more and to now being in business successfully for almost six months strong. It’s all in what the people are into now a days… that is spiffy eyewear and exclusive head pieces.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Real. Rare. Ravishing. That is what Under the Brim REF present when you see the exclusive eyewear and hats (fedoras/crochets hats/trucker hats). Each piece is custom picked and created to perfection and from the heart. Can picking the right eyewear and creating trucker hats be challenging? Absolutely!! Most people do not see your vision when picking out their outfit or some people are set in their ways to only liking the “simple” frames and hats. When creating or selecting ideas I have to make sure it will sell to all audiences in all age ranges. I would like the world to know Under the Brim REF is a place fit for everyone of all ages and styles. Even if you need a little push to step outside your comfort zone, I promise you can trust me to pick out the perfect piece to complete your look.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my bestfriend comes to town we would have to eat at Moxies, Pappadeaux’s, The Mexican and Hopdoddy for food and drinks. Bar hop in Deep Ellum for happy hour and for the night life we would go to GVO (Good Vibes Only) in Frisco. Not too much of a club person so museums, movie and a concert would be most of the hangout ideas.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have two people I would like to shoutout. Ericka Smart of Smart Growth Elixir and Danielle Samuel of Tag Team Tutoring. These two women assisted me with my business name, the idea and thought to even start a business to even funding my first items to sell. There would not be an Under the Brim REF without the encouragement, funds, prayers and love without Ericka and Danielle.
