We had the good fortune of connecting with Roneka Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roneka, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
In the beginning, trying to balance working and doing the groundwork for my business was very complicated. Every minute of my day is occupied. I ended up getting sick and had to take some time off work. So that gave me some time to work on my business. Although I was sick, I got up every morning like I was going to work and began to do all the work that I couldn’t do before I became sick. So as of now, I think that the time off was well worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, I just sit back and look at what all our customers would like and then I come up with ideas to put things together to ensure that all of our customers are happy. So, I came up with the idea to fill the “Spinnanight Bags or Heaux Bags” with everything our customers would need for an unexpected night away. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where we are today. I would like to say most of all it was my faith in God because without him NOTHING is possible. I had a lot of challenges due to the Pandemic. I overcame my challenges by being patient, being consistent, and never giving up. When something gets in my way, I always have other alternatives to make sure that what I set out to do is successful. The lessons that I have learned along the way is DON’T BE AFRAID TO TAKE RISKS. I would like the world to know that at Kultured Essentials we not only provide great customer service, we also have everything you need for that unexpected stay and other services. Other services include Cooking home cooked meals and our other business “Kultured Krack”. Kultured Krack is a Candied Fruit business that will launch on March 5, 2022.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, my best friend knows me well enough to know that I’m going to light my grill and we are going to have a cookout and margaritas and cocktails all day. My life is very simple. Most definitely we would be playing cards or dominoes and have drinks. We have survived the club life. lol Also, we have done a lot in our life to where those days would be filled with reminiscing, just sitting back laughing and catching up on time that we have missed.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to send a special shoutout God because without him nothing is possible. Then to my daughters, N’Keiveia and Kei’Ann Smith. They always keep me on my toes. Last but not least to my friend La’Toshia Nickerson, my sister in-law Leaundria Patterson, my friend Shaneka Woods, and my spiritual friend, Latoya Duncan. The motivation, the ideas, the opinions of how my products are looking, the late night convos just uplifting each other and motivating me to keep on pushing and never give up, and last but not least the loyalty and honesty that comes from all of them. I really do appreciate and love all of them.
