We had the good fortune of connecting with Rohan K Shrestha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rohan K, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I came to the United States in 2008 as a student for my college degree. I did not know who I wanted to be or where I wanted to go. I didn’t know my purpose in life. As an international student, my life was very difficult. I was working multiple jobs in order to pay for tuition and bills as I was taking full-term classes. Life was good but very challenging at the same time. Therefore, I needed to figure out how to provide for my family. I dropped out of college and started my entrepreneur journey opening a boutique. I was selling clothes door to door and it helped me develop my communication skills with customers. I learned how to study my customers on a deeper level. Since my clothing line was a traditional shop, it was only doing well during peak seasons. I wanted to grow and do better but I was completely lost and didn’t know what would be my next move in business. Finally, when I saw that the technology market is thriving and social media is influencing the world. I knew this was the field I wanted to be in. It was the right market timing to take a chance and learn about the tech industry. There were no iPhone repair shops in my area at that time, the iPhone was just getting popular and I saw people buying and selling phones every day. I realized there were not a lot of technicians repairing cell phones. I decided to learn how to fix phones and then I started my own business, Smart Techs. In October of 2019, Smart Techs app was launched in Dallas TX, where our app allowed users to request a technician to come to their home, workplace(s), and/or wherever they are and help them resolve their repair and installation needs. Users are also able to rate their tech experience and use the Smart Deals marketplace to buy and sell electronic devices and other household goods in the app. Users can chat with our techs to analyze the issues to save time and money by avoiding unnecessary trips. Our goal with Smart Techs is to give people a way to eliminate the frustration of dealing with all the different layers of getting a tech issue resolved. The vision I have for my business is to take my business to the next level. Not just to make money and open multiple locations, but to go nationwide and global as a leader in technology. After all, I know that there is a need for a centralized platform that brings all service technicians together under one umbrella. And all of this is because of the years of vision, research and partnership with Jay Huffman and his company, Integral App Studio, from California. Currently, we have services in the DFW metroplex with 100 plus 5 stars reviews from our customers. To grow our business nationwide, we got an opportunity to join the NewChip Pre-seed accelerator program, where they help founders with all of the tools and skills necessary to build, scale, and fund their startups. Our goal is to expand our on-demand platform by marketing our app and hiring certified technicians in multiple markets and cities across the US. I believe this is just the start of my journey and there is a lot of work to be done. I am very thankful for my Dad, Mom, Wife and two beautiful girls for believing in me. Without their love & support, I could never make it on this journey thus far.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

As an international student, my life was very difficult. I was working multiple jobs in order to pay for tuition and bills as I was taking full-term classes. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As a father and Tech entrepreneur, I see the digital world is moving very fast and it might be hard to keep track of our children. The existing social network lacks security and children are vulnerable to the bad side of this network. Therefore, as a father i created KidOrama which is the safest place for kids to enjoy being a part of a social network with their friends. Parental guidance is mandatory and customizable for each child. Feel in control of your kid’s social life online and let them live a life with friends they love. Also, keep track of your kids accomplishments, set up play dates and events, as well as keep a record of all of their academic, health, creative, location & create events. Therefore I believe Into days world “Adaptability is a major advantage in the harshly competitive global economy, especially in 2020. Digital migration is on the rise, and happening more rapidly. It is crucial to make a shift based on creative problem solving and new big ideas to not only help your business survive, but thrive in the current climate. Act quickly, try something new and be confident in your decision making because change is constant, now more than ever, businesses should be too. In my life i have been influence from my father also some great successful people like Grand Cardon, Naveen jain
