We had the good fortune of connecting with Rogers Vigne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rogers, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We all originally are tasked, educated and rewarded in school as kids and young adults before we enter the workforce.   The process is that you follow a pre-set group of tasks (syllabus) for a pre-determined group of classes (degree plan).  Those tasks and test in those classes are graded on the same scale as all the other students and rewards are given based on the results.  You also know how many classes are needed to get to the next level as well to eventually graduate.  Then you enter the workplace with a system that does not mirror the one you’re used to in school. Your “good grades” and your “passing all of your classes” usually does not get you any promotions or salary raises in the workplace.

I believe that this is a traumatic shift that we go through and wonder why when you do your work completely, correctly and on time… it doesn’t result in the reward or any level ups the way you did in school.  This is messed up.  You must find a whole new way of defining what are the task and classes are required to level up…  and so many of us never really do.

This is why I started my coaching practice.  People are working for and applying for jobs in roles they just fell into instead of going to get with a specific and strategic intention.  The goal is not to get more money, as money is by-product of professional mastery.  The more value you become and can provide, the higher the price point is for what you do.  The process for understanding self and how to upgrade and evolve your professional self is not taught at any level of academia.  This is why I started this business, to assist people in bridging that gap of understanding in how to attain workplace success and provide the tools to help you to keep growing exponentially.

I believe that, as a part of our professional evolutionary journey, that you should eventually become an expert in your field. If that is not your ultimate goal, then you are not living and growing in your God-given gift. The ultimate expression of a matured gift is someone operating in that gift in a way that provides the most value to the most people. This can take many forms, including creating something new, becoming a major player in an industry or in the establishment of a business. In my evolutionary journey, I found myself in position to create and grow this career coaching agency… it is what positions me to provide the most value, to the most people, using the God-given gift that has been bestowed to me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
During the inception of the creation of my business, I was crafting resumes for others. When I learned that the resumes I was doing for people or for jobs that, for many of them, they didn’t even like… changed how I saw the entire resume writing an interactive process with my clients. So from that point I decided to provide a more valuable service. I did this by helping people get into the industries and positional roles that best fit them that they would love to do every day. The interesting thing about a journey for businesses that it must evolve with the needs of its customers. With any business there are growing pains and there are dangers that cause the business to be in position to where it can falter or even fail. And sometimes, it does fail. However, we do we know that nothing worth having is easy. A business, just like a professional, needs to get up after being knocked down, learn from its mistakes, and try again… better. We at My Digital Self Career Coaching Agency acts as a supporting agent to our clients. We let them know that they are not alone in their journeys. We let them know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel of the dark seasons of their career journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Personally, I am a lover of great food, the arts, sports and entertainment. I love to attend great exhibits and see fantastic shows of amazing talent. I am also an avid sports fan, specifically American Football. I great day would be a tasty early brunch, attending a football game, a quick nap and shower then go to a stand-up comedy show and cap off the evening at one of DFW’s amazing steakhouses. Sub out the game with attending an exhibit (during the off-season) and that would be great as well!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For starters, my parents are my moral, spiritual and philosophical foundation teachers. Everything I’ve learned up to this point is built on my observing their hard work, their consistency, their love and provision for myself and my four brothers. In addition there are some amazing teachers in high school and college that I am most appreciative of including Tony Tanner (Castillo) , Melvin D. Anatole, Dr. Kit Williams , Dr. Connie Wells, and a life changing technology professional by the name of Roderick Jones. He was the one that introduced me to the business world I would one day master when I was only 15 years old.
