Meet Rodrick Rules: Hip Hop Curator, Critic, Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodrick Rules and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodrick, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
The way I look at it theses days, work is life. It has to be that way for me to remain productive towards reaching my ultimate goals. Since the last time we talked my endeavors have grown into projects that keep me busier than ever. More calls, more emails, more inquiries, and more content needed. This isn’t as difficult as it seems because I love what I do and feel that my works will be recognized far after my lifetime. Immortality is my ultimate goal! I want the name Rodrick Rules to talked about and admired far beyond my time on the planet. Extraordinary results cause for extraordinary efforts, so that what I apply everyday. However, I do intend to hire more staff in the near future because in reality balance is needed. I guess the best way that I handle it is to separate myself from reality and place myself in my dream world. Not to return until I can bring my dreams to reality with me…If that makes sense, lol

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand is #RodricksLogic and we cover music, media and more. What sets us apart from others is that we are all about the music. We don’t publicize people because of drama or any type of scandal they may be in. When you find an artist on our platform, you know its going to be about the music. At #RodricksLogic we belief that the smoke and mirrors have become more dominant that the music in the music business. Just saying it makes me think ‘how is that possible’, there’s no answer to that regrettably other than ‘its possible because you are witnessing it’. Our platform is a step in the opposite direction, giving people a chance to know a musician for what they should know them for…Their music! Nothing worth accomplishing is easy so the levels of difficulties just assure me that there is a grand reward at the end, and in a sense I guess that answers the second part of that question. Keeping my mind on the grand reward at the end motivates me to move forward. Along the way I’ve learned resilience, I grown tough skin. I’ve learn that consistency is the key to open the doors to all your wants, needs and dreams. I want people to know that my brand isn’t about me, even though my name is within the name. Its about our city, our culture and getting all the talented individuals the recognition, knowledge and financial stability that they deserve. Also, whatever you see with #RodricksLogic attached is sure to be exceptional quality.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve been pescatarian for the past year so I would prepare them for the unusual yet delicious food choices before they decide to come. We would have to go to Vegan Food House, for the best vegan food in Dallas! Their Black owned by the way. Sankofa in the Redbird area and TLC Kitchen in Garland are two more black owned vegan restaurants that i would have to put them on, but since I’m allowed to eat fish i can put them on Aunt Irene’s in Sunny South Dallas which is an awesome black owned seafood restaurant near the the State Fair. Hangout spots would be Chocolate lounge, Staydown Lil B keeps a crunk party going on there! Also Trees in Deep Ellum for concerts put together by Lorenzo Zenteno, The Nines in Deep Ellum as well with Galaxy9 Productions. DJ Paparon just reopen Dreams so that’s going to be a turn up to check out as well

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
