We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodney Pouncy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rodney, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Fort Worth, Texas, born and raised. Growing up my circumstances always inspired me to be strong minded, stay focused and accomplish goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been cutting hair for as long as I can remember. I’ve been able to grow my passion into a successful business. We provide top quality work for the Barber industry. What I love about being in this industry is that we get to be apart of a lot of peoples mental health and self love journey. A lot of people leave the shop feeling better about themselves and more confident. In addition to that, we know that taking care of skin and hair is important to our physical health. I want the city to know my brand doesn’t just cut hair or teach people barbs skills we really inspire a lot of people to want more and to continue to keep going. Being able to be apart of our customers and students journey is very special.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place in Fort Worth is the La Gran Plaza Mall . The reason why is because Plaza Mall has everything you need in one place and they also do a great job of servicing minorities in the community with resources and opportunities to become financially stable.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Growing up I was a inspired by Jay Prince. I feel like Jay Prince set the bar not only in the hip-hop industry but in the community as well. He taught me what it means to set goals, be committed and persevere through obstacles and distractions. I know that I wouldn’t be anywhere without my community and the tools and support they’ve provided me. It’s incredibly important to me that my goals always align with giving back and benefiting others in some way.
