We had the good fortune of connecting with Robyn Radusky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robyn, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
What’s more fun than shopping for yourself? Shopping for your kids! When my son was born 4 years ago, I discovered a new world of children’s fashion. Retail and fashion were not new to me, as I began my career here in Dallas as an Assistant Buyer for Neiman Marcus and later worked for Lafayette 148, Theory and Helmut Lang in NYC. My family and I were living in NYC, and even with every children’s brand imaginable only a block or two away, I still felt like something was missing from my son’s wardrobe. This is when I discovered the world of European children’s clothing. These clothes weren’t merely clothes. Each brand and collection told a story and emanated a sense of joy and innocence of childhood that I felt the familiar American brands were lacking. These European brands are not readily available in the US, and nowhere to be found in Dallas.
Fast forward a few years later, my family and I moved to Dallas and my daughter was born. I continued on my search for unique children’s clothing in Dallas, but again was brought back to European collections for that charming aesthetic I craved. In March of 2023, Poppy and Prince was born! My store is named after my daughter Poppy and my son Oliver (my Prince). I find myself searching far and wide for unique clothing that kids love to wear and feel good wearing, and I am so excited to share it with Dallas!
You can find Poppy and Prince online at poppyandprince.com, Instagram @poppyandprince and at pop ups around Dallas! I love to host intimate pop ups and have also had the opportunity to bring my shop to many amazing businesses around the city!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Obviously a children’s clothing store in not a new concept, however when deciding the best way to approach my business, I discovered that the traditional brick and mortar setting was not in my initial business plan. Instead of a full time store, I do the majority of my business through my website poppyandprince.com, in person at Dallas pop ups, and also through private client styling. This has allowed me to connect with customers all over the country, while focusing on growing my name and brand recognition locally. I love to help my customers style their children’s wardrobes. I gather pieces from my own store and even other stores to help them build a closet that makes it easy to get dressed for any occasion!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Over the past 3 years of living in Dallas I have discovered the best local places! My typical morning starts at FBH Pilates or Studio6 Fitness followed by a smoothie at The Gem- get the Silver Bullet! My kids love seeing the dinosaurs at the Perot museum or going to a music class at Kids Garden Club. For shopping, I love the boutique at Enlighten and then I would head over to Storied Beauty for the best skincare and makeup! Stop for lunch at Bird Bakery and then head to dinner at Tei An for the best sushi and Japanese food!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It sounds cliche, but I literally would not be here without my family, my husband and especially my kids! They are the reason I fell in love with children’s clothing. You can ask anyone who knows me, I take the utmost pride in dressing my kids and now yours! It warms my heart to see kids feeling good and looking stylish in their outfits. It boosts their confidence and they have more fun!
