We had the good fortune of connecting with Robyn Olschewsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robyn, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has changed over the years as my priorities have changed. Before I had kids, I worked a lot! I made sure to spend time with my husband and friends, but work was a much bigger percentage of my day. As a mom of three young girls now, work life balance has shifted quite a bit. I have a higher focus on family time. Work is obviously important, but my family is even more so. Figuring out the best balance between work and life can be tricky! Having a business of my own means that there are always things that can be done. However, I have to make sure that I spend quality time with my family. In my world, family comes first and my business second, but I can still make time for both. It takes a lot of planning and the balance is not always perfect, but raising a healthy family and growing a successful business is definitely doable!

What should our readers know about your business?
At Tall Reali-tees, my mission is to celebrate the uniqueness of being tall with one-of-a-kind graphic t-shirt designs that are relatable, inspiring, and at times, even hilarious. My designs are printed onto American-made tees that are super soft and comfortable. The shirts have extra length in the body, which is a necessity for any tall person and something that is a rare find at most other shops.

The tall niche is a tight community. We band together to help each other find clothes that fit and bond over height struggles and “tall girl problems”. I want my products to have a positive impact within this community and I want fellow tall women to wear my designs with pride in their height. That is the heart behind everything I put up on my shop. I am so proud to see my products being worn by tall women all over the world!

While I’m the creator and designer of Tall Reali-tees, it’s very much a family business. My husband is who I bounce my ideas off of and my three daughters are my biggest brand ambassadors. I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am today without their encouragement and support. Sure, there have been some challenges along the way, just like any business, but it’s definitely been worth it! I’ve had to figure out how to grow and manage my business social media accounts. I’ve had to overcome the fear of possible failure. And, I’ve had to figure out that super important work life balance. I really just take things day by day and lean on my family support when it’s needed!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Any of my best friends are also going to be moms of young kids like myself, so our itinerary would reflect that. For family fun during the day, I would take them to the Dallas Arboretum and the Dallas Zoo, both family classics in this area. We would also go walk the trails and visit the playgrounds at any of the many wonderful parks in Plano. In the evenings, since my family is big into sports, we would check out a Frisco Roughriders baseball game or Dallas Sidekicks soccer game. I would also make sure to take them to Escapology in McKinney for another fun way for our families to spend the evening together. As for restaurants, my picks would be Poor Richards for breakfast and Austin Avenue or Rodeo Goat for dinner. Also, any restaurant at Watters Creek or The Boardwalk at Granite Park is perfect for those gorgeous sunny days when we want to eat and play outside!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When talking about work life balance, it just makes sense to give credit to my husband, Eric, and my daughters, Morgan, Tessa, and Elle. They are my biggest supporters in both business and life!
