We had the good fortune of connecting with Rishi Niranjan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rishi, what do you attribute your success to?
CASH Club Corp. is an ever expanding network of stock investment clubs. Our branches focus on educating high school students in stock investment basics through a set of bite-sized curriculum along with practicing stock trading through the simulated trading platform Invstr. This unique one-two punch of teaching and practicing finance basics makes up our simple yet effective framework for bringing investing knowledge to high-schoolers across the world. The real x-factor that puts CASH Club branches ahead of independent investment clubs is the resources and infrastructure we provide that students would otherwise lack, including pre-packaged curriculum and a network of fellow like-minded students and industry professionals. Through resources such as our Information Packet and Launch Packet, the process of starting a branch is simple, streamlined, and scalable. These tools help prospective students learn more about our organization while also helping them start branches of their own. All in all, the success of CASH Club branches are mainly derived from their ease of starting and operating along with their ability to grow and sustain a community of future investors.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The stock market is an excellent tool to prepare for a secure financial future and pivotal to accessing greater opportunity in life. Sadly according to Princeton research: 75% of millennials report that they don’t invest because they “don’t know enough” about markets. This is a problem that starts at an even younger age, in fact, 2/3 of high school students say they do not understand what the stock market is. This is not due to a lack of interest among high schooler’s for investing, but rather due to a lack of exposure and opportunity. Around the world, high schools suffer from a lack of finance based programs that teach students the fundamentals of investment. CASH Club Corp. aims to fix this problem by enabling students to start stock-investment clubs at their schools, providing them with a proprietary bite-sized curriculum that covers the basics of the stock market, and empowering them to apply their knowledge through engaging stock simulation competitions. This culminates in promoting a fun and enriching learning environment for future investors. CASH Club consists of two primary components: in-classroom learning and extracurricular competition. We host bi-weekly school club meetings, presenting our curriculum to educate fellow students about the stock market, which can then be used to advance performance in our all-branch stock market game: making sure to always take our branches’ and members’ feedback along the way as we are constantly improving our curriculum.
I am most excited about CASH Club’s ability to expand stock-market education internationally especially as we are reaching over 50 high-schools across the U.S, India, Dubai, Africa, and South America. Working closely with the international branches, I have gained a unique appreciation for the nuanced differences between cultures and the ubiquitous nature of humanity that unites us. From adapting financial curriculum to accommodate the vast spectrum of global economic philosophies to learning about education systems across the world, there is never a day where I do not learn something new.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although a week could not do justice to the charm of this bustling metropolis, here are some of my favorite things to do in Dallas. To get a feel for downtown Dallas, I would spend a day visiting the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture center, and basking in the sun at Klyde Warren Park with plenty of lively food trucks to chow down at. On the shopping itinerary, I would target NorthPark Center, Highland Park Village and Galleria Dallas to range from the large mall scene to luxury boutiques. Venturing from the epicenter of Dallas, I would visit the vibrant atmosphere at the Legacy West in Plano; walking down the cobbled street to take in the array of lights that decorate the fine selection of restaurants completes the recipe for a perfect evening. Last but certainly not least, I would recommend trying Uncle Julio’s for a delicious Tex Mex experience.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a high school club tackling the daunting subject of investing, we were committed to finding an approachable and exciting way to share our passion for investing with our peers. We finally settled on hosting a competition that rewarded the student with the highest returns at the end of the semester on a simulated stock trading app we discovered: Invstr. The Invstr app’s intuitive user-interface and game-like features quickly caught on among members and allowed us to put the principles we discuss at meetings to the test. Since those first few competitions, we have gone on to integrate the app into every existing CASH Club branch with competitions at every branch’s high school as well as a branch-wide game with hundreds of members. Thanks to this UK-based startup, we are able to foster a friendly competition that acts as the life-blood of the CASH Club network. Shoutout to Invstr!
