We had the good fortune of connecting with Richie Hidalgo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Richie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think patience and risk can go hand in hand together. With projects I’ve worked on in the past (and currently working on) I have noticed when I think something is done, there’s always one or two things that can be added or taken away to chip away and perfect. It’s not a process that will be overnight, that’s what can be frustrating. What can be months to a year is one of the frustrating things I’ve learned with my art. But with frustration comes satisfaction. And with satisfaction, we find meaning, that is the true beauty with what artists do. It may be tough to wait and be patient on a gold mine you’re sitting on, but waiting just a bit more might be the thing that could change everything.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think the thing that I consider myself different than others is listening to other people’s feedback. Anytime I work on a film/project, my goal is to never say no to any suggestion. I may not go with it down the line, but I want to give everything a shot. If someone gives a suggestion, they might see a hole or flaw that I don’t see. It’s having compassion and working with others. It’s listening. It’s being open.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s always a good time at Six Flags. Anyone that has never been to the Six Flags here has to ride the Batman , no exceptions. There’s tons of good restaurants in Arlington, Torchy’s Tacos and La Madeline are some of my favorites in the area. There’s a cookie shop that’s open until 3am called Insomnia Cookies, I say that’s a must. There’s a gaming arcade late at night called Cidercade that is the spot, me and my friends go at least once a month. There’s also Grapevine Mall, a good closing destination for a visit over here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Someone I wanna shoutout is my best friend, Daniel Aaron Bryant. Aaron and I have been friends for 10 years, and although it doesn’t feel like it, we have been through hell together. I can’t imagine where I would be without him, and how my emotional stability would be without his phone calls. Aaron is my friend, my business partner, and my voice of reason. Aaron has made me realize it’s ok not to know everything. We can ask for help or advice from someone else, we don’t have to be ashamed about it. Be kind to others around you and people will do the same.
