Meet Reese Flores | Barista Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Reese Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reese, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I started my business at 19, in November 2023. Straight out of high school, I didn’t have much ambition or direction—I bounced around between jobs and coffee shops, unsure of what I really wanted. When this business landed in my lap, it came during the lowest point in my life. I was undependable, irresponsible, and showing up was hard, but I kept going. Eventually, I hired employees, and little by little, customers started to come in, though it was barely enough to stay afloat. Fast forward to April 2025: I surrendered my life and my business to Jesus Christ, the one who had been knocking at my heart the whole time. That decision changed everything. I rebranded with a new logo and shifted my focus to glorifying God through my work—we put free Bibles in English and Spanish out for anyone to take, welcomed prayer requests daily, printed scripture on our cups, played worship music, and filled every corner of the shop with reminders of Him. And then, God moved. Within weeks, our numbers went from the lowest they’d ever been to the highest. That summer, we served more people than I ever thought possible. The job I once questioned even pursuing became something I loved so deeply, it stopped feeling like work. I’ve seen miracles inside my shop and watched God move through conversations with customers and moments with employees. My heart is overflowing with gratitude—grateful for life, for my customers, and above all, for Jesus. Today, we are proud to be a Christian business, and I know without a doubt that God is the reason behind our success. My prayer every single day is that He continues to use this shop for His Kingdom and His glory.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From the beginning, I’ve worked to align my business with small-town values—local milk, local espresso, local honey, and homemade syrups. But what I love most about my shop is the creative side of it all. If you take a look at my menu (available on reesescoffeecorner.com), you’ll see that we’re not shy when it comes to experimenting with unique and exotic flavors. I also have an artist who designs all of our chalkboard signs, which customers absolutely love, and both of my logos so far have been hand-drawn by one of my former employees (and best friend), who is a graphic designer. One of the most unique aspects of my shop is that we change the theme every month—new decorations and new coffee flavors to keep people excited to come back. My favorite theme so far has definitely been our “High Tea” menu, where we transformed the shop with an Old England vibe and experimented with fun floral flavors. It was such a memorable experience. I’ve always had a passion for the arts, so being able to incorporate creativity into this business—and foster an environment where my employees can showcase their creative talents as well—has been a blessing in itself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Weston, where my shop is located, is pretty much a ghost town aside from my family business, so there’s not too much to see here. If I were showing someone around, I’d take them out for coffee at 1418 in Prosper and then head straight to Celina’s downtown square to explore all the shops I grew up around.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The owner of 1418 Coffee, David Bryant. When he heard that my family and I were thinking of pursuing a coffee business he did not hesitate to step in. We use his espresso beans which are imported from Guatemala and locally roasted here in my area. He takes so much time and care to provide the best and our values align. To this day, he checks on me and helps me in every way he can.
My dad. Every time I have doubted myself and my capabilities he stayed right by me supporting me and speaking words of wisdom to me. Every successful moment I’ve had he’s been a witness to it. Every crazy idea i have had he has always believed I could manage it, and most importantly he has been there through every trial I have had in my walk with Christ constantly holding me accountable and pushing me closer to God. I love him with my whole heart.
Epi (my aunt). This woman has been there with me through it ALLL. She is the funniest, most giving person I know. She has stood behind my business defending it and supporting it in every way she can. I like to think I take after her in a lot of ways, but there is truly no one as authentic as my aunt Epi.
Brett & Carrie Bryner. Leading up to my last moments with Brett before he passed in September of 2024, him and his wife constantly supported me through all the ups and downs. Every time I stopped believing in myself its like Brett could sense it and would show up to the shop and tell me exactly what I needed to hear. He is truly one of the only reasons why I didn’t give up on my business and he was ultimately what led me to pursuing a deeper relationship with the Lord later on after he passed. I feel like he always represented Christ well to me, but more than anything him and his wife mentored me through the good seasons and the bad.
I am beyond grateful for everyone I mentioned.
