We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebekah Sawyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebekah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Having the flexibility to turn “on or off” is very nice. It allows us as a family to have financial freedom, but also flexibility for long weekends, vacations or working from *almost* anywhere. With that being said; starting a new business can be so scary! Thankfully there are so many amazing resources and support to help guide a new business owner along the way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With any journey, there will always be road blocks and learning opportunities. These obstacles have helped me grow, not only as a human but also as a mom, and a business owner. During the past 8 years of embroidering, I have pretty much taught myself the art and skills related to design and embroidery execution, in addition learning the ins and outs of a large machine! Lots of time, practice and drive to keep learning new things keep me pushing every day, while the success brings smiles, like any new skill there’s definitely been tears of frustration along the way when a project doesn’t turn out the way you want it to! I think it’s important when learning something new, to be patient with yourself and not give up!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my bestie comes into town (she lives in Virginia) we always like to kick the weekend off with a spa day (can never have too much relaxation!) some yummy food and a place with beautiful views! Fort Worth, TX is a beautiful city! I love exploring the stockyards, and downtown areas; there’s so many neat restaurants and secret hideaways.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I would have to thank my family for cheering me on along the way. Helping guide me, and reminding me that starting a new business takes time. My spouse, Charles, who works just as hard behind the scenes and has taken the time to learn and support the business too (couldn’t do it without is mechanical expertise and fixing anything that breaks!) The book “Atomic Habits” by James Clear taught me to implement systems and small changes, both within my business and within my personal life to help get closer to the goals I have set forth.
