We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The Tax Industry is very cut-throat, So many people throw up offices each year for the sole purpose of ripping hard-earned tax-payers off. I remember back when I used to pay a company to do my taxes, I remember leaving with so many unanswered questions, I felt as if there were things that should have been filed that were not, and I felt like just another number to them. I decided to start my business and so things different and not make it solely about the quantity but the quality, Educating my clients, getting to know their situations so that I know how to better assist them. That is how and why TaxTyme came about, I wanted to do things different and better for the clients.

What should our readers know about your business?
TaxTyme Tax & Business Services is a full-time Tax Preparation company that specializes in Personal & Business Taxes, we also do bookkeeping, payroll and Notary Services. This year we are adding Tax Resolution and Credit Repair back to the mix. One of the things that set me apart from the others, is it’s not JUST about the money for me, yes I have a business and I have overhead, however, when you have a passion for something it has to be about more than just the money. I want to help people, I want to educate and bring awareness to things so even if you go elsewhere you will know how not to be taken advantage of. This is a cutthroat industry so many “Preparers’ set up shop each year for the sole purpose of taking advantage of consumers, and then once they have wreaked havoc they are nowhere to be found. I started TaxTyme to do it differently and do it right, No I am not nearly the highest paid, But I can say I am one of the hardest workers in the industry, I go to bat for my clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc. In your view what are some of the most fun, interesting, exciting people, places or things to check out? Rebecca loves to go, so this will be fun, We will do the massage bus tour downtown, then head on to Deep Ellum and bar hop and have drinks, Dinner at True Kitchen. One night we would go visit Waterproof and dance on the rooftop while enjoying the view. THis list could go on and on.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, I would not be where I am without the support of my clients, they mean the world to me and each time they grace my doors I am so grateful. Also, my mother, who is my biggest fan, she was there way back when I was preparing taxes out of my home, she was my secretary, paper stapler and receptionist, all she ever wanted in return was for me to succeed and be all that I can be.
