Meet Raquel Adkins | Real Estate Investor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Adkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raquel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was always an entrepreneur from a very early age. I have created two start-up businesses from zero and sold them for a very healthy profit. But after having kids, I was looking for something that would build financial wealth to leave behind for them. After watching a Tiktok video of a real estate agent saying how to buy a duplex, live in one unit, rent the other, and live for free, I was inspired to start my real estate career of buying and holding properties.

What should our readers know about your business?
I buy ugly apartment buildings with a group of investors, make them prettier, raise rents, hold them for 5 years, and sell them. Kinda like flipping houses, but flipping large multifamily apartment complexes.

The thing I am most proud of is not only improving the apartment communities we invest in but building wealth and passive income for my family and the investors that believe in the project and my capability of managing and executing the business plan.

I am here today thanks to the network of partners I have built over the past year who shares the same goals and business strategies, this field is for sure a team effort. Also, the passive investors trusting me with their hard-owned money.

I thought real estate investing was exclusively for the rich and privileged, not for someone like myself, a woman, an immigrant, a mom, a minority, but after intensive mindset work and acquiring the knowledge necessary to understand the business, I went in head first and started taking action! I am a woman on a mission to build wealth for my family and for my partners through real estate investment.

Our core mission is to disrupt the current investment model previously reserved for the privileged and open up this investment platform to the everyday professional.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It all started with me changing my mindset not to be limited and wide open to believing that I could create miracles and build a life by design. Destroying barriers that I put in my journey between me and being able to accomplish anything I wanted. Changing my mindset was the first step to unleashing my full potential.

I am also very thankful to my husband and partner in life for supporting us financially so I could take our new business off the ground.

I strongly believe in education especially when you are starting something new with zero experience. I signed up for a mastermind called Deal Maker Mastermind by Michael Blank, which gave me all the tools, knowledge, and community I needed to shortcut my journey.
