We had the good fortune of connecting with Randy Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Randy, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Creating, forming an idea in my head and doing whatever it takes to bring it to life. I don’t think there’s a greater purpose in life, it’s exactly what we’re here to do. To create means to add to the world, to society, to leave your mark and to let the people who come after you know you were here. It makes me happy because I don’t know of a better way to show the universe you appreciate being here, having the human experience. It’s the biggest form of appreciation!!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My companies name is “Brand New Black” I started it back in 2016 . I was working a dead end job and I was looking for a way out, I wanted to empower myself. I’ve always been big big on black owned businesses and entrepreneurs, I read books, listen to podcasts and interviews from some of my favorite entrepreneurs. I did motivational speaking in order to teach other black people how to believe in themselves and start their own brands and businesses. I created a clothing brand, sold t- shirts and hoodies . In February i released a children’s book named “Landon’s lemonade stand “ it went #1 on Amazon for the month of February and March . It’s a step by step guide to entrepreneurship for children 10 and under. It hasn’t been easy but I’m totally dedicated, I’ve learned a lot lessons along this journey, mostly from making mistakes lol .. mistakes are valuable though, the more you fail the more you learn . I feel like my company and brand is valuable because it teaches self esteem and self belief, those things are extremely valuable in business and in life .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a restaurant buff, I love great food in a cool environment. My favorite steak house is del friscos in uptown .. my favorite Mexican restaurant is vidorra in deep ellum.. if we’re just hanging out and grabbing drinks I’d have to say moxies I love the vibe there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest shoutout would most definitely have to go to my wife. I get so much encouragement, reassurance and support from her, she’s my biggest fan. After her it would most definitely be my children, it’s because of them I continue to take risk and believe in myself. Their pure motivation!
