We had the good fortune of connecting with Rabia Waqas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rabia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe the only constant in life is change itself. If you are not evolving every day and growing, it’s very easy to become complacent without realizing it and soon you unintentionally condition yourself to be okay with whatever conditions you are in instead of taking the risk, making the change and evolving from your every day monotonous routine.

It’s never easy to get out of your comfort zone and take risks, but if you change the word failure to a learning experience, it gets easier and you really only move forward regardless of the outcome.

Leaving my full time stable job to start a business amidst of the Covid breakout was a risk I took because I realized it had to happen either now or never and I’m glad that I did. There has been a lot of learning in the process but it’s all fun when you love doing what you do! If the risk is taken for something that will make you happier, it’s never disappointing!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Love Tokens by Rabia is a home based bakery business where i curate custom desserts, savory delights and custom cakes. My mom always said if it doesn’t please the eye, it will hardly please the stomach.

Service, taste, presentation and customization is my motto for everything I do. This is what sets me apart from the bunch. Instead of making my food items in bulk, I work closely with my clients and make the desserts custom to their liking, ofcourse never compromising on presentation and taste!

Its never easy to accomplish something. There are always times you feel like you can’t do it. Starting this business with 2 boys 10 and 5 yo and a 6 months old little girl wasn’t easy but anything that comes easy isn’t as valuable either. Ofcourse, this is just a beginning and I have ways to go but when I look back at my journey so far, every order that I have taken comes with a story that only ended up as me being proud of coming so far. Oftentimes in the rush of things we forget to stop and thank all the people who have helped us on the way and pat ourselves for never giving up. Love Tokens by Rabia is all about appreciating the love in life and for making all moments sweeter. Here’s to many more scrumptious, beautiful looking desserts…

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Dallas is one of my favorite spots for a casual hang out. Klyde Warren Park is great for a relaxing afternoon with all sorts of delicious food trucks!

Although I’m in the Denton area, Carrollton feels like home to me. There are some amazing places to eat like Sushi Kadan, mochinut right next to it, Al-markaz and Agha Juice are a must visit with my favorite people.

Shops at Legacy is great for a formal evening, many places to shop, eat and hangout!

The Dallas Arboretum and Fort worth botanical gardens are my favorite places to visit with my friends from out of town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family deserves the biggest shoutout for always being so encouraging and supportive of what I do! They give me the strength to keep moving forwards always! I would definitely not be creating what I create without my sister’s guidance and selling it without my husband’s support. That being said I would have definitely not gotten anywhere without my customers. A local social media group run by Whitney Hamill, called Carrollton Texas Chatter has been the best source of leads. Everyone of my customers has been so appreciative of my work and has helped spread the word around town.
