We had the good fortune of connecting with Queen Kima and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Queen, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?

My perspective on work/life balance has changed more than twice over the years. When I first began my business, I had a “healthy” balance regarding my focus, my practices, my circle of peers, and my environment. The deficit, at that time, was my mentality and lifestyle.

As I matured I partied less, began to focus less on romantic interactions, and thought that I had grown less attached to physical satisfaction in general. What I did not resolve, was my mentality deficit, because I was unaware of it at that time. This led to me satiating the desire for physical satisfaction through working – and I worked. A LOT. One might even accuse me of having been a workaholic. When it damaged my relationships, I just viewed others as lazy or unfocused, I never recogned the lack of social or familial interaction in my life. Once COVID came and went, I was even more immersed in a “work, work don’t stop” mentality, and the only way I was able to gain any type of dopamine release was through task completion.

It was not until I gained a mentor that taught me that my addiction to completed tasks lists was unhealthy. Then I stumbled upon a documentary that likened being a workaholic to a heroin addict, and I set out to change.

Now I live a healthy balance of work and relaxation. I am still working on the social aspects, but the good news is that I desire it now – sometimes! The journey from there to here is another story.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Queendom Arts is unique in that it combines a series of seemingly unrelated expertise to create a highly impactful foundational environment with proven success. Founded as a production company that helped business owners find success and growth in their brand awareness and sales through events, we have strategic relationships with venues and in areas of graphic design, product production, photography, videography, entertainment and more. This experience helps us to know how to attract and keep attracting the right people for a brand or service.

During COVID, we were forced to be more creative with our services, and with my personal experience, we found the most success in brand messaging and sales. Over time, we have specialized our skill set for career professionals who lack the appropriate business acumen for the business they wish to launch or grow.

We are proud to now have client relationships with institutional organizations, HNWI, professional athletes, and other prestigious members of our socio-economic ecosystem. This has allowed us the freedom and flexibility to develop programming that will help bridge the gap for those who do not have those resources find themselves on track to becoming new generational wealth generators.

Easy is a relative term, so what may be easy for me, may be hard for others. The components of my journey that have been difficult for me, have been personal. What I do and what we do here at Queendom Arts is easy for us and we enjoy doing it.

What I want the world to know about my story is that I am Queen Kima because I am a resource for all people that I encounter. The Queendom Arts brand is a beacon of light and a safe-haven for businesses and individuals to find the support for growth that they have been needing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

WOW a week!

The first question should have hinted that I don’t socialize for long periods of time (lol). When my best friend of over 20 years recently came to visit she popped in and out for the week, but she mostly hangs out with me while I am working. I’m grateful to say that she encourages me, and lets me know how she benefits from being around me working.

The one thing I always make time for is walks in nice parks and food! I mostly cook at home but I do also enjoy eating out. Here are my favorite places to eat in the city (in no particular order):

-Moxie’s
-BBBop Seoul Cafe
-Mendocino Farms
-Gloria’s
-Truluck’s
-East Hampton Sandwich Co
-Kona Grill
-P.F. Chang’s
-Roti Grill
-Rex’s Seafood Grill

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give all glory, honor, and praise to The Most High Father in heaven, whom without I would be nowhere and nothing. It is the gentle nudges of the Holy Spirit, and ministering angels that keep me, guide me, and support me, and I am grateful.
