We had the good fortune of connecting with Porcha Ingram and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Porcha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk taking could be a positive thing. You actual learn new things, and explore unfamiliar situations that you’ve never been through before. Taking risk has played a huge role in my life because every business I have started was a risk take. Especially opening a Spa during the pandemic. Taken risk has made me more and more successful. No everything is not always glitter and gold but it’s always a beautiful outcome for both life and career.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I open an online boutique called Porchaz Clozet in August 2016. 2 weeks later I opened a barbershop called Fade Zone Barber & Salon located in Irving,Texas. If that wasn’t enough 2017, I realized there was more and decided to jump into the trucking industry and purchase 18 wheelers. The more business savvy I became, I took a courses to become a business coach in 2018.I specialize in business start up. Later on I knew I had a passion for skin and went to school to be an Esthetician in 2019. My latest venture was opening a Spa in Arlington,Tx called Posh Retreat Day Spa. What sets me apart from others is of course I am a risk taker. I am most proud and excited to even have these businesses open after what the world has just been through and what it is going through now. I got to where I am today because I stayed focused and motivated. I was determined to become successful and didn’t stop until I became that. No it was not easy, I overcame the challenges by not giving up. The lessons that I have I learned the most is keep business and personal separated. What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I didn’t and won’t give up. I love to empower people and push and motivate them to their highest potential. I am a Wife Mom and Boss!!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If they were to want to stay at a hotel, I would tell them to stay at the Virgin Hotel which I absolutely love in Dallas.I am a foodie, I would definitely take them to the best steak houses in Dallas. Perry Steak House or Morton’s. We would have a spa day at my spa, I love the Spa. I would take them wine tasting at Times Ten Cellars. We would also do retail therapy. I love to shopping in Highland Park. I love music, we would probably have a night on the town uptown where there is a live band. Lastly church at The Potters House.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A book by Steve Harvey called Jump. That book helped me make a lot of business decisions .Another book was T.D. Jakes Soar. Who also deserves a little credit and recognition is my husband. He is always there to pick me up when I’m down. My son helps push and motivates me also because I know I’m doing this for them.
