Meet Paige Muller | Owner + Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Muller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paige, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be completely honest, it was a happy accident. After spending seven years in NYC, I moved back to Dallas during the pandemic, It was the height of COVID — everyone was stuck inside and I wanted to do something elevated and unique to lift my friends + families spirits. So, I created small cheese + charcuterie boxes with handwritten notes and dropped them off on all their porches to spread joy, encouragement and love. They all LOVED them – and posted on social media – and then their friends were asking how to get a box and then they began to order and post – and then their friends ask and ordered….and here we are almost 2 years later!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It’s been a wonderfully windy road to get to this point – I went to college and graduate school to get my masters in early childhood education. After graduate school, I taught kindergarten and first grade in Texas and NYC in both public and private schools. After a few years of teaching and a fortuitous meeting, I shifted my career to events + hospitality. I worked for the top restaurant group in NYC planning the most iconic events. One of those events led me to another career shift where I worked for a NY based PR agency focusing on luxury brand partnerships. And then the pandemic hit the city. hard. I lost my job and wasn’t quite sure what was next – my fiancé and I moved to Dallas and began putting our lives back to together brick by brick. And in that re-building, Boxed Bites was born!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, LOVE when I get to show off this incredible city! So much to do and see and the list gets longer everyday.
For eats….breakfast we’re picking up bagels from Shug’s or getting juices from The Juice Bar because life’s all about balance. Lunch – we’re either picking up crisp and green, filling our NY cup up with sandwiches from Cindi’s or having margs + guac at Jose’s. Around dinner time, you’ll find us at Uchi, Beverly’s, The Charles, Townhearth or il bracco but you better believe we’re counting down the seconds until Carbone opens. For sweets, we’re always going to JD’s Chippery for the best cookies + sweet tea — or Susie’s for the most adorable cupcakes.
For some movement, we’re absolutely heading to Session Pilates – no question – the very best. Also, a huge fan of long walks around white rock lake or our neighborhood!
And I mean, we’re in Dallas – so we’ve got to go cheer on the Dallas Mavericks and/or the Cowboys! After the game, to celebrate the win – we will be at Alice or Tiny Victories for cocktails!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow where to even begin. Boxed Bites would be nothing if it wasn’t for the support of my family. My mom, dad, brother and fiancé have been absolutely instrumental in every single part of the process with Boxed Bites. My fiancé is a professional chef and initially helped to created the entire concept of Boxed Bites. He’s helped consistently to build out the menus, early early mornings prepping, days filled with deliveries, late nights planning, spreading the word, and honestly the list goes on and on. My mom is an absolute angel. She is truly the backbone of BB. Not only does she prep all the boxes, she keeps us organized, she constantly encourages me and picks me up days I’m overwhelmed – oh, and she also ties every single box that heads out of the restaurant. Grant, my brother, is a huge support as well – he’s always there when we need extra hands and as a realtor in Dallas – he really helped launch us into the real estate market. My sweet dad is the absolute best – he’s our #1 delivery driver, head of marketing and without a doubt our biggest encourager.
I love so many aspects of owning my own business and the blood, sweat and tears that go into building it — but my absolute favorite part – no question- is getting to build something so special with my family. Having everyone come together to support this crazy cool dream is just absolutely unreal and I’m beyond thankful.
