We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Herrmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paige, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Authenticity.
I started my account (and soon-to-be blog) with one purpose in mind – to talk about the things no one was openly talking about after you have children. Even though I prepared as much as I thought I could prior to having my son, I had never felt so lost or unprepared after he was actually here and I wanted to ensure others didn’t feel the same way.
I started my Instagram account in mid-January and it’s already grown to over 5,500 followers. The number of people that have reached out to me from across the globe saying how much some of my posts have resonated with them is pretty incredible.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Contrary to what I thought, running a blog / Instagram account can be a full-time business! I am constantly having to think about what content I want to put out there, what content may resonate and of course, creating said content.
I had to learn really quickly in order to maintain the success I’ve found, I need to be extremely organized and intentional with my time, Therefore, I spend most of my evenings after my son has gone to bed working on my Instagram / Blog, prepping content, writing future posts, and researching what is already out there to see what people are interested in, etc.
I have accepted the fact that because this is important to me, I have to put in the effort, therefore, there may be days or nights that I might get less sleep, or I may have to skip out on “girls night,” but making sacrifices is part of being successful.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The DFW area has so many great places to visit, eat and drink! When we have out-of-town guests, I typically like to start in Dallas and make our way to Fort Worth!
The Dallas Arboretum is always a go-to spot to take visitors, they constantly have really great events and activities for people of all ages. After we’ve spent some time at the Arboretum, I like to take my guests to the Arts District to check out some museums – fun fact, the Dallas Arts District is the largest contiguous urban arts district in the nation!!
The food truck scene at Klyde Warren Park is not to be missed, soak up some sun, sample some food trucks and maybe grab a Mambo Taxi from Mi Cocina on the Park.
In the evening we would head to my favorite restaurant, Uchiba. Their brussels sprouts and Hama Chili is incredible as are their drinks!
To end the night – Happiest Hour is a fantastic place, not only for the strong drinks but it also offers great views of the gorgeous Dallas skyline!
On the way to Fort Worth, I love taking visitors on a tour of the Cowboy’s stadium. Even if they’re not Cowboy’s fans or football fans, the stadium truly is a masterpiece, not only does it house world-class art, it also has such incredible detail that can only be relayed during the tour! For eating and drinking in the mid-cities, I love to pop up to Grapevine, not only does Grapevine have some great wineries, but it’s also home to Harvest Hall – a new food hall filled with great restaurants across the metroplex!
And when we finally make it to Fort Worth, the Stockyards are a must-see. The Stockyards house the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive, if your visitors have never seen a Texas longhorn in person, here’s your chance! The Stockyards is also home to the historic White Elephant Saloon which is next door to one of my favorite places, Love Shack. And of course, no trip to Texas isn’t complete without having some Texas BBQ and while not in the Stockyards, Angelo’s is the best and only an 8-minute drive!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wonderful, supportive and incredible husband deserves all the recognition. He is the one that really encouraged me to start this account/blog and has supported me every step along the way. He is my number one cheerleader, the person I bounce ideas off of, my unpaid proofreader and so much more.
