We had the good fortune of connecting with Osvaldo Rocha and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Osvaldo, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes, I’m very big on quotes actually. My favorite quote and what I base my life on is “If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always be where you always been.”

This quote really represents everything I am. Growing up I have always tended to stay in my comfort zone to avoid failure, until I turned 25 when one morning driving to work, I heard this quote in a motivational audio. I took it as a sign that I needed to stop being afraid and understand that failure is part of the success journey, so I decided to more risks.

I love this quote because people and I include myself in there always dream of having a better life, being happier, accomplishing more things, dreaming of the “If I had this or if I had that”, but fail at doing anything about it because we tend to stay on the same job working a 9-5 and just dreaming. Hearing this quote is like a parent or life in general just looking you at you in the eyes and saying “You are where you are right now, because you don’t do anything about it” or at least that is how I see and hear this quote. That is why I love it so much! I repeat this in my head over and over again.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Yes, we are Trash and Go, LLC and we specialize in Valet Trash Door-to-Door collection in all DFW. What sets us apart is that communication is key for us. Have you ever contacted an 1-800 emergency or help line and all you get is a machine answering the phone? Everyone hates that! Communication with management and residents is our foundation to ensure our business succeed. Anyone can collect a trash bag, but not everyone is good communicating, so we design and implemented an amazing software that allows the resident to contact our reps directly 24/7 literally! Residents can reach out to our team at any time to ensure their trash gets collected, if they are moving out, or if they need assistance with getting rid of extra trash. The best part is that they get notified when our team arrives and departs from their community. No other brand is doing that and that is a fact! We are most proud to know that we came up with this idea and it has been the reason of our success.

Our business began in June 2020 after working a part time job for a national provider during August of 2019. I was working on my accounting job, and I took it as an excuse to exercise so I decided to give it a try. I came across this industry after my wife and I got married and moved to an upscale apartment complex in Addison, TX. I was mesmerized when the leasing agent mentioned Valet Trash. I have never heard of that before. When I began my part time job, within the first hour of work, I was hooked! I feel in love with it, and I was really excited to go to work after my 9-5. Then within the first few weeks of learning and seeing how they operated I began to wonder what I would do differently if that was my business. I did not think too much of it since it was just a part time job. Then I found out how much the business was making for this service vs how much I was getting paid, and I decided to leave it. I felt like it was not fair.

When covid began, my wife and I had to work remotely so it was a lot of days without doing nothing after our morning jobs, so I began to get bored. Around May 2020 I begin to think again about that job, but I knew I did not want to go back there so one day during my job I decided to just go for it and form my own business. I invested my initial $300.00 to form my LLC and I was the owner of president of Trash and Go, LLC.

It took a whole year before we got our first contract, but it was not that easy. I got rejected close or more then 100 times, until one day when I was beginning to give up, I got an email! It was from a regional manager I visited before, and he was contacting me to see if our business was still proving services. I had no social media, no website, and no logo. Just a flyer that I had made with our business name and services. He asked for business information and a bid (which I had no idea what this was) but within an hour I had a logo, a website, social media and we were fully operating. I made him an offer just to ensure we got the contract and just like that he gave us our first shot. He believed so much in my word that he did not even ask for any references, reviews, or nothing.

It has taken a lot of hard work and sacrifice to accomplish what we have done so far since having a 9-5 manager job and a side business is not easy, but I truly love it! I love my business and all the challenges and learning opportunities that come with it. We had our first challenge right as I got my first contract. This industry is known to be during nighttime, but part of getting our contract was that it needed to be during the morning from 7:30 am to 9:00 am, which I had to be at work by 8:30 am and as Covid was slowing ending during late 2021 my accounting firm was calling us to be back in the office. Since that day I had to make excuses to be late at work just to make sure I fulfil our contract and I don’t regret it at all. Even to this day I make stories up just to make sure our business succeeds lol. and thanks to Covid my job is really flexible, so I feel very blessed.

It’s get hard having to be at 2 places in the morning at the same time that I even been at the point of having accounting zoom calls behind dumpsters and attending meetings with clients from my vehicle. All I do is put a background of an office space and put on my bottom down shirt, is crazy hahaha then when the meeting is over, I just hurry to finish collecting the trash, change into my office clothes, and drive as fast as I can to the office. I know it may sound a bit gross, but I truly enjoy it, because it makes me realize that anything is possible and there is always a way to make things happen.

All this experience and lessons have taught me that as long as you are willing to sacrifice you can achieve anything you want. It takes time away from you and loved ones, but it’s worth it. I can honestly say I have the best support system in the world, and they have shown me that I’m not alone in this journey so shoutout to my wife and family!

I would like the world to know that if you have a vision or dream of something and you truly believe on it, just go for it! Have no regrets. Even if it fails at least, you go down knowing that you tried it and gave it your best, period!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to Legacy Hall for good food and live music during the weekends. During the week I would probably take them to work with me since I work almost 13 hours shifts every day except for Friday and Saturday so any help in the trash would be greatly appreciated. lol.

I enjoy a lot going out to eat and drinks to different places and check out was in new in town every month. I don’t really have a specific location that I consider my favorite. I think I would just see what is in town that week and plan something last minute.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, thank you so much Eric for allowing me to share my story through your site. I truly appreciate the opportunity to be here.

Absolutely! First, I dedicate my story to God. None of this would be possible if it was not for him so all the success of my business goes to him.

Second, I dedicate this to my beautiful mother and my beautiful wife. My mom is the biggest blessing of my life, and she is the true definition of hard work. She has challenged me to make sure I reach my goals, have faith, and never give up. My wife is my right hand in this journey and my best friend. She believed in me and my vision since day one and she is willing to sacrifice in order so I can fulfill this dream. She is an essential part of this business and specifically my life so I’m very thankful she is my wife.

Thirds, I dedicate this to my older brothers, my father, my nieces and my best friends. They are the pillars and foundation of making our brand grow and be as successful as it right now without asking anything in return. My brothers have always been my supporters and one of my biggest blessings. They have always stuck next to me and watch over me since I was a young boy, so I always thank them for that. My father made really big sacrifices in his life to ensure we had a better life so honestly if it was not for him, I would not even be here today, so I always thing of this and how he did everything he could for me. My nieces even though they are still really young they are willing to jump in and help our brand and I think that is really special how family is the most important part of ones’ life so I hope I can motivate them through my story and journey.

Lastly, I want to thank and dedicate this story to 2 special people from The Medve Group Organization. Mr. Brian Kelley and Ms. Libby Ponder. I’m sure no one from there will read my story, but I want to make sure I include them here because I got rejected a lot of times, but they believed in me and gave me the first opportunity to begin this journey, so I always think of them every time I get a new property.
