Meet Oscar Daniel “Juno Complex” Hernandez | producer, singer-songwriter, contemporary artist,

We had the good fortune of connecting with Oscar Daniel “Juno Complex” Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Oscar Daniel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My primary passion lies in music and its diverse styles. I attribute my process of creation to the ring of sorrows I experience in day to day life. I know artistic liberation has kept the creative in me flowing through the currents of such.
The energy that I feel when I express myself artistically is unmatched. It is definitely a spiritual expression because it translates my soul into a sonic form. There are also many things I love and hate during the process of creating, but I find a lot of satisfaction in trying to find that balance point.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
First and foremost, I want to mention that I wouldn’t be where I’m at without the help and feedback from my friends and family.
My passion for music will never cease to exist as long as I’m here. Every bit of music I hear from day to day has definitely shaped my sound. And to paraphrase Miles Davis, “Don’t play what’s there, play what’s not there.”
That shit hit me hard.
I don’t believe I’ve learned enough lessons to capture that yet, and I also don’t believe that we have to force our creative psyche, I try not to get extinguished by a creative block— if it happens, it happens.
You see and hear of a lot of terrific artists who worry about this so much. They stay trapped in their studio only to feel extinguished creatively when instead we can be living our lives to gain more inspiration to come back to the drawing board and translate it into true art. I think that struggle is an effective way to lose communication with our audiences.
But I also don’t mind if my creations connect or not. At the end of it all, I’m only doing this as a form of passion and self expression– no gimmicks.
Pessoa once wrote, “If after I die, people want to write my biography, there is nothing simpler. They only need two dates: the date of my birth and the date of my death. Between one and another, every day is mine.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to keep it so very simple.
Afternoon time: We’d go to Northpark Mall to check out some gear and
sip champagne at Neiman Marcus (thanks, Manolo). Eataly is also near, so we can check
out their market and score some nice Italian food & wine for lunch.
Also, if it’s the right time of the month, my homie Black Taffy runs a chess club once a month. We could exercise our brains and talk about chess theory with many others at The Wild Detectives, which is this cool coffee house with books and drinks.
Night: Strangeways is one of my favorite bars in Dallas. It’s such a chill one that I like to escape to after a long day of work. So many booze options from local breweries to choose from. They also have a wonderful selection of spirits and liquors that not many other bars carry here in Dallas. My favorite combo is a nice sour beer and a shot of Fernet…
Speaking of Fernet, I’d also take my friend to visit the Branca Room in Bishop Arts.
It’s a nice speakeasy with great cocktails created by James, I really dig the mythological identity that they capture with their cocktails.
Anytime: Texas Theatre; let’s catch a cult classic on 35mm.
I honestly can’t wait for their David Lynch week coming up at the end of the month (may-june 2023)
They also have shows behind the screens, the small stage definitely creates a close and intimate experience with music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Altered State Productions, I have been fortunate enough to be part of this terrific collective of artists who have been instrumental in pushing my limits and opening new creative opportunities.
A big shoutout to Mani from Queens, NY, for introducing me to the market.
DJ 5D, who supported me at Crown & Harp during a very difficult time in my life after I was discharged from the hospital.
Hans Henley, aka Semantic Noise, he’s real serious about his craft. Whether it’s tunes or fragrances. I rate him highly cause everything he makes comes from a real place.
Black Taffy, because I feel like we are on the same wavelength, whether it’s with the chess moves or the beats, he’s always pushing me to think differently, and I rate that.
I also want to mention DENUHMUG. because we’ve shared the same vision and energy, and I appreciate our past collaborations.
The fantastic Kevin J. Simone from Fours (4444) making big moves.
My Homie Jam0 (jay-mo), not only is he a terrific artist from Oak Cliff, but he’s been like a brother to me and always has had my back.
The infamous artist DEBT in Dallas who has shown support for my own productions and artistic direction.
And my own debt in Dallas, from creative to lawful fiscal matters, which have kept me humble.
