We had the good fortune of connecting with OG Scoop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi OG, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
A couple of things played a part into why I decided to pursue a career in music. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas I grew up with a single parent, which was my mother. We didn’t have much financially and my father has been physically absent mostly all of my life due to being incarcerated. This created quite a few challenges for me growing up. I decided to not use these things as an excuse as to why it may be hard for me to become successful in life, but to use it as motivation and fuel in becoming a successful artist. I feel like an artist has to have a story to tell and has to be able to tell that story in a way that paints a vivid picture for the audience. That’s what I look to do through my music by expressing the things I’ve been through, everything I’ve had to overcome, and things I look to accomplish in life. Of course the bigger you get as an artist and the more successful you become means more money, but more importantly I’m looking to motivate and make a positive impact on people’s lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a recording artist in the genre of hip hop/rap. I go by the name OG Scoop and I’m apart of a group of two by the name FamGang. We’re a rap duo based in Dallas, Texas. We’re still considered up and coming artists. I’m most proud of just our grind in general , we’re independent and unsigned artist so everything we do is out of our own pocket and is done on our own. Coming up in the Dallas music scene is a challenge in itself but we just use it all as motivation. What sets us apart from others I believe is our authenticity. We got to where we are today just by staying down and grinding also not giving up and having faith in ourselves. You can find us on all major streaming platforms under the name FamGang.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most likely I’d take them to Deep Ellum , you can eat, drink, club or just hang out there and meet lots of people. Also we’d maybe visit downtown Dallas where it’s a lot of different restaurants, hotels or just venues in general to choose from to visit. We’d maybe even visit a museum or historical areas in the city also.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
