We had the good fortune of connecting with Ofelia Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ofelia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always had an artistic/creative bug. Since I was 6 my mother would sit me next to her as she sewed bridal gowns and I would sew my barbies dresses! Balloon decor came to me as part of my corporate job. I was part of the birthday committee so I started researching balloons and fell in love. I love seeing the colors of balloons play with or against each other.
That’s how I realized balloons is a beautiful way to continue being artistic and loving what I do.
It brings so much joy to other people its incredible to see clients faces when you show up with balloons that were created especially for them.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My Art is the love of balloons! I have received so much support from so many balloon artists! The balloon community is honestly very inviting and helpful it is also very saturated at this time. So for me to stand out from the rest I have to go the extra mile for ALL my clients. It doesn’t matter if its a small event or a big event. I try to give my best work to all my clients and doing things with love for the art and not only for the money. I want my brand to show that when you purchase from me, you will receive my all! My attention to the client is my priority and I want everyone to feel welcome. My biggest challenge when I started was not knowing what I was doing! Like anything I took courses I watched videos I found a mentor (who is amazing Joette).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dallas Dallas! I have lived here a little over 6yrs and still get lost in this City.
I love going to a new restaurant called El Patio MexTex in Lewisville. That would be a place to start brunch!
I enjoy nature when its not too hot and have found a great park in Mesquite that allows alot of activities boating walks and just fun stuff Camp Rorie-Galloway.
Now I am not a fan of clubbing but have definitely enjoyed a dinner here and there at Gloria’s. Some great salsa music and drinks!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been very fortunate that alot of friends and family have cheered me on. Alot of strangers I have met also have become my biggest supporters. Promoting my balloon designs by buying from and basically becoming loyal customers they are now extended family!
